Topic: The Leviathan, Satan

The last head on the seven headed dragon is illustrated below. It’s the final kingdom before Jesus returns.
Satan indwells the Antichrist (as the Beast).

                Leviathan means “mourning”.

  • livyâthân; from H3867; a wreath, wreathed (coiled) animal (a serpent), i.e. a serpent (especially the crocodile or some other large sea-monster); figuratively, the constellation of the dragon; also as a symbol of Babylon:—leviathan, mourning. Also used for “a fierce enemy”.

Strife, worry, fear, anger, and envy stir up our lives. We live in fear of abandonment, death, and illness. We worry and fret over our finances. We become angry when we are betrayed. We break out in envy when life isn’t fair. We are caught in traps of illogical thinking, especially when there is a God who takes care of His children.

This chaos of our emotions and the turmoil of our thought patterns boil over into our relationships resulting in a dysfunctional crippling of our lives.

This is what scripture means when it says we fight against principalities of darkness, powers that are invisible to the eye, but which affect our hapless lives.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15

There is only one escape from being caught up in this storm of turbulence; it is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God died for our sins using his blood to detoxify our lives, having died, been buried and rising from the dead as the sinless lamb of God.

All it takes is to calm one’s life is to totally envelope this universal truth. It is God’s gift to men. But not all men will readily accept this gift, and even those who do accept this gift, do not make the most of it.

To find peace, absolute peace, it takes more than “head knowledge”. It takes “heart knowledge”. Heart knowledge is called faith.

For this reason Jesus told his disciples “Oh you of little faith” when they were in the boat, the storm was raging, and Jesus was asleep in the boat. The disciples cried out “Don’t you care that we perish!” The difference between Jesus and his disciples were that Jesus knew God’s plan for mankind.

Studying God’s character gives us peace. Studying Satan’s wiles allows us to be wary of that serpent but stay as innocent as doves. We are able to recognize his ways and know how to react.

Pay attention! It is Leviathan, called Satan, a reptile who causes our spiritual sea to rage. It is Jesus who calms our storms. But we must apply our relationship with Jesus to understand these spiritual events and appeal to him for our peace.

The serpent is Lucifer whose names are Satan (Literally: the Accuser), the Devil (Literally: Storm), Baal-zebub (Literally: Lord of the flies, He who pisses against the wall.)

Scripture is replete with references to Leviathan, the sea monster that swims in the sea of people. Few people realize “Leviathan” is a biblical reference to Satan. He is referred to as a serpent, dragon, monster, sea monster, leviathan, crocodile, reptile, and beast. Note: EACH ONE IS A REPTILE. Satan is compared to a reptile for reasons which will be described later in this topic. The Biblical Satan is a reptile but “spirits” are amphibians, ie: frogs.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon (Satan), out of the mouth of the beast (the Antichrist), and out of the mouth of the false prophet. Rev 16:13 Unclean spirits do the work of Satan.

For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces. Zech 11:16

The Phyllobates Terribilis is the most poisonous frog on earth. Commonly called the terrible dart frog due to its being the most toxic vertebrate on the planet. These “spirits” are toxic because they are under the influence of Satan’s lies. They influence men’s lives.

“A cute, colorful and passive little amphibian. The golden poison dart frog is said to have enough toxin to kill 10-20 men just by touching it. That’s a pretty amazing feat given that these frogs aren’t much bigger than your thumb.”
https://stoneageman.com/how-a-poison-dart-frog-kills-you/
When it comes to a golden dart frog, curiosity can kill you just by touching it.”

They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; the poison of asps is under their lips. Selah” Psalm 140:3

God uses that which is a biological fact to illustrate a spiritual reality: Men with unclean spirits are like poisonous frogs. Dart frogs are poisonous and are the most dangerous poisonous animals on earth. Poisons are lies that will spiritually kill anyone who ingests them (takes them into their thinking.) “

Due to their poison, the Phyllobates (dart) frogs taste vile to predators. Their  “Terribilis” poison kills whatever eats it, with the exception of the snake (Serpent, Satan) Liophis epinephelus.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_poison_frog

The snake Liophis Epinephelus (Satan) is resistant to the frog’s poison (his own lies) but is not completely immune.

Satan, who does not seem to be affected by the poison produced but uses it for his production of poisonous darts to use against men, will eventually be destroyed by his own lies, therefore; he is not “entirely” immune. His end is 1,000 years in the Bottomless pit before being thrown into the Lake of Fire for eternity.

(The poisonous) Frogs eat their skin during shedding, thus “recycling” any skin alkaloids (poisons).

The spiritual application is that evil men “eat” ie: believe their own lies to live self-consuming lives.

The chemical makeup of toxins in frogs varies from irritants to hallucinogens, convulsions, nerve poisons, and vasoconstrictors – Symbolic of the spiritual affect these poisonous lies have on societies, governments, and individuals which cause the sea of people to boil and rage.

These same frogs are not toxic at all when in captivity. This very science illustrates how God will take evil men into captivity who prescribe such lies, neutralizing their poison.

Satan is compared to a reptile, but his lies are influential spirits.

So – what can we learn about this reptilian monster which lives in the sea of people, especially when it comes to how he affects our lives?

We typically recognize Satan as the serpent from the book of Genesis at the fall of man when Satan indwelt the serpent.

Scripture points out his nature to twist truth, coiling around and around. The antithesis of a twisting serpent is words used to describe straightness: straight talkers, pillars of the community, the straight and narrow way. Scripture refers to straightness as being righteous.

Some serpents squeeze the life out of their prey and then swallow them whole. This is picturesque of Satan and what he does to mankind.

Some serpents are poisonous. As previously stated, Satan’s lies are poisonous to men.

Jesus instructed his disciples, saying, when you pray, pray like this: “Deliver us from the evil one”. Matthew 6:13

To make it personal, paraphrase it this way; “Our Father in heaven, I come to You to intercede for me when Satan is boiling my waters of peace. Please lower Your hook and snag Satan and drag him out of the influence of my life. Let me depend on You and not take matters into my own hands. I don’t want to make matters worse. I don’t want to arouse and excite Satan. I will wait on You.”

Galatians reminds us of Jesus’ work on the cross for just this purpose.

“(He) who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.” Gal 1:4

There is a blessing for those who wait on the Lord to intercede on their behalf.

“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

The term Leviathan comes from the literal meaning of the Hebrew word for Sea Monster.

Jonah was not swallowed by a whale. The translators called it a “Great Fish”. If they had stayed with “Sea Monster” they would have called it “Leviathan”.  It turns out Jonah was not swallowed by a fish but by a reptile; a reptilian dinosaur of old which lived in the sea. God uses this image to describe Jesus at his death, burial and resurrection.

Jesus told the Pharisees there would be no sign given them except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Jonah was swallowed by Leviathan for three days and three nights before he was regurgitated up on the shores of Nineveh. Jesus was referring to his own death, burial and resurrection. Jesus was swallowed by Satan and spent three days and three nights in the belly of the underworld until his resurrection onto the shores of the living.

An interesting parallel is that Jonah was sent to the gentiles and they repented. Paul also was sent to gentiles after the resurrection of Jesus and they likewise repented.

In Job chapter 41 God taught Job about Leviathan, the ancient dinosaur of old, the reptile that is in the sea. God sees Satan as a Leviathan who invades the sea of people.

God told Job that 1) The curses of men excite Leviathan and catch his attention, 2) Job could not take matters into his own hands to battle him, if he did he would regret it, 3) Leviathan’s heart is as hard as a millstone, 4) Leviathan leaves a wake, 5) Leviathan causes the sea of people to boil, 6) God himself will draw him out of the waters of people and ultimately, 7) God will both tame and destroy him.

In Job 3:8 Job is bemoaning the day he was born. Out of nowhere he writes: “May those curse it who curse the day, those who are ready to arouse Leviathan.”

CURSING AROUSES SATAN! CURSING EXCITES AND AROUSES THE LEVIATHAN!

When Jesus was arrested, Peter denied him:

69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.”
70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”
71 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!”
73 And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, “Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.”
74 Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!” Matt 26:69-74

Peter pulled down curses and swore oaths to cover his lie.

James 5:12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.

Peter sinned by denying Jesus and by cursing and swearing oaths. Thankfully, a lamb was offered to cover his sin, the Lamb of God.

Cursing and blasphemy are the same words.

Cursing is a synonym for Blasphemy: the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, the word “blasphemy” may be used as a substitute for “profanity” or “cursing”. Wikipedia.

Cursing against God and against His agenda in our lives; cursing is the same as grumbling and being unthankful.

“These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.” Jude 1:16

When Satan stirs our waters of peace DO NOT curse the situation, DO NOT curse God, DO NOT grumble, complain or harbor resentments. DO NOT swear an oath. (For example, “I will never give you something good again because you…..) In the middle of heated arguments just stop and immediately give it to God. If you want to live in peace forgive your enemies realizing everything that happens in your life has a God-given purpose. God uses it to promote your future, in some way, for your eternity with Him.

And we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Joseph understood this when his brothers sold him into slavery. He told them:

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Gen 50:20

God warns Joseph not to take part in battling Satan by taking matters into his own hands. Do not manipulate your environment to get your own way, nor seek revenge.

“(If you) Lay your hand on him (the Leviathan); (you will) Remember the battle—(and you will remember to) Never do it again!” Job 41:8

Only God can deal with Satan. Only God can fish him out of the boiling waters of your life in this world. God asks Job:

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, or snare his tongue with a line which you lower?” Job 41:1

The answer is a resounding NO! We cannot battle Satan without God. We cannot even rebuke him. It is imperative to go to the Lord of Heaven and Earth and let him battle on our behalf. Even the Archangel Michael would not contend with Satan but said “The Lord rebuke you.”

“Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’” Jude 1:9

Do not take matters into your own hands. Such action will only bring destruction to you.

Abraham and Sarah took things into their own hands when they used Hagar to bear a child. They manipulated God’s promises, who promised them a son from their own loins (Isaac), and instead created Ishmael; the antithesis of faith. Today, the entire world is in turmoil because the descendants of Ishmael, the Arabs, hate the Jews.

  • In Job 41, God pronounces that the Leviathan’s heart is as hard as a millstone, even as hard as the lower millstone.

Satan has no natural affection for men. He simply uses them for his own purposes. Satan doesn’t want man; he just doesn’t want God to have them. There is only one man Satan wasn’t able to manipulate or control, and that is the one who called himself “the Son of Man”, Jesus.

Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness being tempted by Satan. Jesus, as a man, did not take matters in his own hands, but turned Satan over to the word of God by quoting scripture: “It is written…”

Jesus overcame where Adam and Eve failed, but he did it by appealing to the scriptures.

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus appealed to the Father, saying “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.”

This moment was described in Isaiah 53:12:

“Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

His soul was poured out even unto death.

Olives are crushed for olive oil. Olive oil is used for anointing and healing. When olives are crushed, the oil is “poured out”. As the crushing of olives, also Jesus’ soul and body were crushed.

To make olive oil the olives are subjected to being crushed under a heavy millstone. There are two “crushings.” The first is when the millstone rolls over the olives and the oil is drained. The second is when a special stone is lowered to press the olives to get the last little bit of oil out of them.

In the end, Jesus said “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

Satan’s heart was the millstone that crushed Jesus’ soul in the Garden of Gethsemane. Great drops of blood fell from Jesus’ forehead as he pleaded to the Father to spare him. The very fact he was not spared is why you and I can pray to the Father to spare us because Jesus took our place on the cross.

In this life, Satan takes our control away. He puts us in a position of helplessness. Just as Jesus was nailed on the cross, Satan’s desire is to crucify men by nailing their hands helplessly to his crucifix (his unholy plan for the world instead of God’s). After all, Satan is the god of this world.

II Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Scientific studies show that snakes (reptiles) don’t have the cerebral capacity for emotions like joy, anger, and affection, but do have “primitive” feelings like aggression, fear, and pleasure.

Whenever troubles come our way, God has a plan to turn the tables on Satan, even when Jesus was raised from the dead. Turning every trouble over to the Father results in a promotion.

In 2015 I knew a lady who had a tsunami of disastrous events come her way. It began when the furnace in her attic stopped working. Her husband called a repair man who went into the attic where the furnace was, then he slid down the ladder like a fireman’s pole shouting “turn off the furnace, turn off the furnace, the attic is on fire!”

Since her husband traveled for work, it was up to her to move everything from the upstairs, downstairs. Shower rods hung between kitchen cabinets with clothes hung on them. Boxes were everywhere. There was barely room to walk through the house.

Just like the book of Revelation, this was the beginning of her woes.

Yet, God was faithful. When God allowed Satan to have a fire in the attic, He laughed at Satan knowing that she would get a new furnace with an air conditioner, which they never had before.

The stress however; caused her to grind her teeth and break a tooth. The dentist said she would have to have an implant. So, in the middle of the turmoil, she began the process of having her tooth pulled and a rod inserted without a tooth on it. It would take many weeks for the bone implant to harden before a new tooth could be put in.

These were two woes, and how many more were to come?

On the last day of her moving everything downstairs for the fire repair, the pictures, mirrors, clothes in the closets, and taking doors off their hinges, all the heavy furniture had yet to be taken down the stairs. This was the third woe, and this was the only day her husband and two friends were there to help.

Her husband began by making a hotel reservation for the night (Restoration was to start the next morning). Instead of getting a room, he discovered he was a victim of identity theft and spent the entire day trying to get a room while everyone else worked; the fourth woe.

She is an author, having written many books stored on her computer without a backup system. Then her personal computer died with the black screen of death. All books were irretrievable, and so goes the fifth woe of grief and mourning.

  • Satan the Leviathan leaves a wake, a path of destruction wherever he goes.
  • He leaves a shining wake behind him; one would think the deep had white hair. Job 41:32
  • Destruction comes; they will seek peace, but there shall be none. Ezekiel 7:25

Then, in April, a medical test revealed an aggressive stomach/esophageal tumor. A “port” was installed in her shoulder with a chemo pump plugged in, dispensing chemo 24-7, all night, all day. The pump lay beside her in the bed, making ker-chunking noises at perfect intervals. This was the sixth woe.

Then came the first chemo injection. She said it was as though her head blew off her shoulders. Every sound created pain; caregivers were instructed to be as quiet as possible, no vacuuming, no can opener, and no garbage disposal. Not even normal conversations were without pain. Her ears exploded, her throat swelled and dripped, becoming so sore she could no longer swallow. She was put in the hospital and stayed for seven days. It turned out she had a rare enzyme deficiency that was 100% fatal with chemo. By God’s good grace, the deficiency wasn’t so strong that the chemo killed her; it just tried to. This was the seventh woe.

Her husband was on the road consistently for his sales job. He started passing out for no apparent reason. He couldn’t drive anymore. His brother had to drive for him so he could finish the year before retiring. He walked around with black eyes, looking like a raccoon. This was the eighth woe.

Her chemo was reinstated and continued until December 15, 2015, when surgery was scheduled. The entire stomach had to be removed, part of the esophagus, and part of the intestine.

The night before the surgery, instructions were to take a shower, wash the towels, the sheets, and the clothing.

That night, just before the shower, her husband passed out in the clothes closet. She and their daughter pulled him out and lifted him into a chair. No sooner was he in the chair, when the water pipes exploded in the bedroom’s bathroom, flooding the upstairs, cascading down the laundry chute, flooding the downstairs large laundry room, and entry, such that half the house was once again ruined. This was the ninth woe.

Her husband was taken to the emergency room for his fall. A friend was called to get the water turned off about an hour later. She went to the hospital with him, then returned at 2 am to do the laundry as the carpet was pulled up and industrial fans set up and roaring. She fell asleep at 3 am when her husband was released from the hospital. This was the tenth woe.

Surgery was scheduled for 5am, and this was going to be no ordinary surgery.

This is what she related:

Unbridled pain. Crazy pain. Misery. Screaming pain and misery. No amount of painkillers could stop the pain. The walls closed in. She prayed to God for help.

She saw a waterfall with a large log over it. An Irish frog sitting on top of the log, smoking a long pipe, and staring at her. He put her under the waterfall and froze everything. Being frozen in the ice in this hallucination did not help the pain, she said.

Nothing by mouth for seven days, no food, no water, even with a high fever. She studied the tiny man sking down the nose tube on her arm. More tests, more vomiting coming up deep from inside. A long needle stabbed into her chest.

She was released for Christmas, went “upside down” and was rushed back into surgery, kept again before being released. She went home, then the dry heaves started relentlessly. She was taken back to the hospital. She heaved outwardly but could not inhale. For three days, she could not grab her breath.

Finally, that part seemed to be over. The strangest thing is, she insists it was the best days of her life. She said God came to her, she danced with the Trinity in ecstasy. She prayed with and for the nurses. The nose tube was removed and she was a new woman.

God turned the tables on Satan. She had lost 77 lbs and had a new skinny body. Lee got a pacemaker that protects him from having a heart attack. They had a remodeled house. She had new beautiful outfits and was full of confidence. She calls this time in her life “The Joy of Cancer”.

Learn the ways of God instead of listening to the deceit of the devil. The way of the Lord brings peace but the lies of Satan bring strife.

The strategy of the devil is to divide and isolate, curse, throw accusations, create chaos, thrash, get revenge, be a right-fighter, scramble to the top of the bodies.

The ways of the Lord are to love your enemies. Do good to those who curse and hate you. Be a wise fighter, serve, sacrifice, and neutralize the poison.

‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they do not know My ways.’ Ps 95:10

Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt 5:43-48

  • Satan (the Sea-Monster) causes the sea (of people) to boil (stew). The Dragon (Satan) in Revelation, who comes out of the sea of people, causes the waves to be tumultuous, chaotic, without rest, constantly churning.

He makes the deep boil like a pot; He makes the sea like a pot of ointment. Job 41:31

In contrast, King David writes, in the 23rd Psalm “He leads me beside the still (calm) waters (of peace).”

If our waters of peace are boiling, if we are left stewing, recognize the presence of Satan and take it to the Lord.

Stew in Hebrew is “naziyd”. Its root is züd meaning: to seethe or boil; figuratively, to be insolent:—be proud, deal proudly, presume, (come) presumptuously.

Note: Stew means “pride”.

“He (Leviathan) beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride.” Job 41:34

To stew and seethe is the antithesis of faith. We seethe, fret, worry, fear; become anxious or angry because we don’t have our trust in God.

Beware of anger. It is a hot rock where Satan curls up with his twisted lies. Beware of Satan’s lies. If your waters of peace are stirred up, it means Satan is busy laying eggs of lies in your mind.

“Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘”empty headed one!” shall be in danger of the council… whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matt 5:22

Anger puts a person in danger of judgment by others, by God, by a jury’s decision, and hell fire. Anger sears the nerves and hardens the heart. Acting on it (Everything from a foolish comment on FB to using a semiautomatic to kill people in a crowd) can bring disastrous consequences. Be on guard to see the pain in another person’s life caused by a viper’s bite. Heal the anger in others. Be peace makers. Take your anger to God, and do not sin.

When such emotions erupt, it is incumbent upon us to discern the presence of Satan’s lies and ask ourselves what those lies are. At the base of every fear is a lie. Anxiety is the avoidance of facing lies, then anger because we feel trapped or can’t get what we want.

Where does one go to find God’s still waters? They are in our thoughts and are based on truth, not lies. They are in God’s Word, buried in the pillars of wisdom. They instruct us in such things as watching our tongues.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23

We have the power to neutralize the Satan’s poison.

Study God’s Word, Pray for Wisdom. Learn the ways of God.

  • Only God has the power to draw Leviathan out of our troubled lives.  God asked Job:

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, or snare his tongue with a line which you lower? Can you put a reed through his nose, or pierce his jaw with a hook? Job 41:1-3

The insinuation is that God can do it while Job, a mere mortal, cannot.

Recognize God’s power and use it. How often do we forget to rely on God for our needs?

Yet you do not have because you do not ask. James 4:2

The Holy Spirit was given to us for discernment of Satan’s presence and for giving us instruction in wisdom so we know what to do.

The ruby red slippers in The Wizard of Oz is like the Holy Spirit. Dorothy never knew how powerful they were and so she never used them….until she was ready to go home.

Satan’s end is sure. He will be tamed and destroyed. Tamed, because he will be forced to bow before God; destroyed, because he will be bound and thrown into the bottomless pit before being loosed to finish his demise in the lake of fire.

Will he make many supplications to you? Will he speak softly to you? Job 41:3

He cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, Rev 20:3

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 20:10

In Ezekiel 29:3-4 the Sea Monster is sometimes translated as a crocodile, or just a monster: The crocodile is also a reptile.

“Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great monster who lies in the midst of his rivers, who has said, ‘My River (of people) is my own; I have made it for myself.’

But I will put hooks in your jaws, and cause the fish (the people) of your rivers to stick to your scales; I will bring you up (draw you) out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish in your rivers will stick to your scales.

Why does God call the Pharaoh Satan? Because he is either indwelt by Satan, or runs Egypt by Satan’s influence. Egypt is by the word of God is symbolic of the world and worldliness.

Not only will God pull Leviathan out of our immediate troubles but will ultimately remove him from this world when Jesus returns with his host of saints and all the angels to destroy him.

“Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” Jude 1:14-15

Isaiah 27:1 In that day (At the return of the Messiah, Jesus) the Lord with His severe sword (of God’s truth), great and strong, will punish Leviathan (Sea-Monster) the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; and He will slay the reptile that is in the sea (of people which Satan causes to stew and boil and seethe).

Satan is referred to as a “red” dragon. A dragon is also a reptile.

Red is the color of SIN concerning the fall of man, and it is also the color of REDEMPTION in man’s salvation.

SIN is the result of Satan’s influence while REDEMPTION is the result of Jesus’ influence.

The Hebrew word for RED blood is the same word for RED wine: “DAM” (pronounced Dahm). (Take this cup and drink. It is my blood/wine DAM poured out for you…ie: for your sins. Redemption)

Furthermore: The Hebrew word for man who was made from red clay is “A-DAM”. (For all –men- have sinned.)

Lastly, the Hebrew word for red clay or earth is “A-DAM-AH”. (He came to earth to live among sinful men in order to redeem them. Without the shedding of blood DAM, there is no forgiveness ie redemption of sins)

The entire story of Jesus and mankind is related to the color RED. It is played out in the story of Jacob and Esau and how Esau forfeited his redemption when he gave up his “birthright”. He gave up his title to be given the stature of the head of the family, the decision maker, his finances and property, and his rights. All of Adam’s spiritual inheritance he also gave up at his fall. The first (red) Adam gave up man’s birthright to be called the sons of God, but the second Adam (Jesus) redeemed man with his red blood. Just like the story of Jacob and Esau, the second replaced the first. The second Adam (Jesus) holds the birthright for a believing mankind once again.

Genesis 27:36|
And Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? (Jacob means “the supplanter.”) For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” (Note: Only with the birthright does the blessing come for believers)

God said Esau have I hated, but Jacob I have loved. It literally means Esau was heavy but Jacob is light. Sin is heavy. Like a credit card, it eventually becomes due. In the case of mankind, the payment is severe. Esau spiritually gave up his birthright (relationship with God) for a worldly bowl of Leviathan’s “stew” (pride). Esau’s priorities were worldly.

The pattern of the second supplanting the first is a theme through-out scripture, not only in Jacob and Esau, but is played out in such stories as Joseph’s two sons.

Genesis 48:9, 17-19
Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me in this place.” And he (Israel) said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.”

17 Now when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; so he took hold of his father’s hand to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. 18 And Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”

19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he,

In Hebrew thought, “the first is swallowed up by the second”.

It weighs heavy vs light priorities in God’s kingdom. Daniel told King Belshazzar that he, Belshazzar, God weighed in the balances and found him wanting, (light, not having God’s priorities). Therefore God had the first kingdom (Babylon) swallowed up by the second coming kingdom (the Medes and the Persians). Babylon forfeited God’s favor when Belshazzar took the vessels taken from the temple and used them for his party. He showed he had no intention of releasing his captives after their predetermined captivity of 70 years.

When we become disobedient to God we are in jeopardy of being displaced, or even worse, death.

“That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain” Daniel 5:30, and the second kingdom swallowed up the first kingdom. The second supplanted the first.

Red is the color of sinful Esau who traded his eternal, spiritual birthright for the temporary things of this world.

Gen 25:25 And the first (Esau) came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau.

Gen 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom (Adom – red).

We must learn to recognize Satan’s manipulative ways in our lives. Do we tend to want to manipulate others? Do we lie, cheat, and manipulate to get our own ways? Do we exaggerate? When these temptations grab us we must go to God and ask him to pull Satan out of our troubled waters.

Red is the color and the name of the stew Esau ate. Remember stew is the antithesis of faith. To stew is to boil under the heat of Leviathan.

To reiterate: Red is the color of SIN concerning the fall of man, and it is also the color of REDEMPTION in man’s salvation. Esau is symbolic of men who are not redeemed, while Jacob was redeemed. Of Himself, God said He was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Through Jacob’s line the redeemer, Yeshua Jesus came into the world.

In scripture, Satan is called: a serpent, a fleeing serpent, Leviathan, a reptile, a sea monster, a monster, a crocodile, a dragon, and his kingdoms on earth are called beasts.

In the book of Revelation Satan is called a “red” dragon, and a “scarlet” beast.

Rev 17:3
I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy (cursing), having seven heads and ten horns.

To see how much influence Satan is having on the world today, watch the news and see how the nations are “raging”.

Psalm 89:9 You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

Jude 1:13 (these people are like) raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

Together, in the word of the color RED—DAM, we have the wonderful story of God’s plan for man: 1) creation of the world (red ADAMAH), 2) the fall of man (red ADAM also Abel’s sacrifice of red blood), 3) the influence of Satan (the red dragon), and 4) man’s redemption (Jesus’ red blood).

1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man (Adam) was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man (Adam) is the Lord from heaven.

The story of Jesus is that he will overcome the RED beast, the dragon (that is in the sea of people) with His RED blood.

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18

We know there will be those who reject the red blood of Christ and trade their redemption, their birthright to God, for the temporal things of this world (like Esau).

In the book of Revelation, Satan appears as both a Beast and a Dragon. The dragon is Satan’s manifestation of his literal kingdoms on earth which ultimately focus on the last kingdom, the kingdom of the Antichrist. The Antichrist becomes indwelt by Satan and he (the Antichrist) is then referred to as the Beast himself.

In the book of Revelation, Satan is the invisible dragon who indwells the visible beast who comes out of a sea of people. The beast is the last (the 7th) head of the dragon indwelt by Satan.

Note: the last head of the dragon is the kingdom of the Antichrist. On this head is all ten horns, ten kings who give their power to this beast.

As a dragon Satan pulls down a third of the stars of heaven with his tail. These are the fallen angels who join him.

He is thrown out of heaven. When?

We tend to believe he was thrown out of heaven when Jesus said “I saw Satan fall, like lightning, from the heavens” Luke 10:18. But Jesus was referring to a time in the future, during the tribulation, when Satan will be thrown out of the heavens in the middle of the seven year tribulation, and he will indwell the coming Antichrist.

In Revelation 18:21, an angel appears.

“Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea,”

One can draw the conclusion that the great millstone is Satan’s hard heart being thrown into the sea of people at a time when both Satan’s wrath and God’s wrath are being thrown upon the earth. This time on earth is called the great tribulation, the last 3-1/2 years of the Antichrist’s reign on earth. Jesus said it would be a time like no other.

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.  Matthew 24:21

In Revelation a harlot dressed in scarlet sits on the back of the red dragon. Scarlet is a color of red.

From Genesis to Revelation, the story of sin and redemption tells the human story of the fall of mankind and how Yeshua Jesus redeems men with His red blood.

The sad reality is that, like Esau, not all are redeemed. The blood of Yeshua Jesus must be applied in order to neutralize the poison of the serpent. The name “Yeshua” in Hebrew means “Salvation.” “Jesus” is the Greek version of “Yeshua”.

With his stripes, we are healed, saved, made whole, and resurrected into a world of pure truth, a world of unmarred reality where there is no fake news or revisionist histories. We are healed in our bodies, in our thought patterns, and in our choices.

Jeremiah 17:14
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.

One of the translations/meanings of Leviathan is “wreath” because the sea monster twists and coils like someone weaving a wreath.

Think about Jesus’ crown of thorns. It is a wreath coiled around Jesus’ head like a serpent. The thorns are like fangs on Jesus’ head.

John 19:2 And the soldiers twisted (coiled) a (serpentine) crown (wreath) of thorns (like a serpent’s fangs) and put it on His (Jesus’) head, and they put on Him a purple robe.

The serpent is called “subtle” in Genesis 3:1 depending on the translation of the Hebrew word `aruwm. Stong’s definition  h6175. It refers to a hidden agenda; an actor.

Genesis 3:1 Living Bible (TLB)
The serpent was the craftiest of all the creatures the Lord God had made.

Strong’s H6175 – ʿārûm subtle, shrewd, crafty, sly, sensible
crafty = to manipulate.

Sometimes the translators use the word “crafty” which means “manipulative”. Satan schemes and manipulates men in order to get his way. This is his “craft”.

Basket weaving is called a craft because the maker of the basket has to weave the reeds in and out to create the basket. The maker of the basket is the manipulator of his environment. Men are like reeds in the hands of Satan and when men use manipulation to get their way, instead of relying on God, they are promoting the ways of Satan.

When men try to manipulate their desires, they are being like Satan, taking matters out of God’s hands and putting them into their own hands – in “Anti-faith”.

When Satan lies to men he is using his resources to manipulate them.

  • The serpent (Or the Diviner; the Heb. word ha-Nachash connotes one who falsely claims to reveal God’s word; or the Serpent; cf. Isaiah 14:12; Ezekiel 28:13-14)

The seven heads reflect historical, present, and future kingdoms that have, and will, rule over the Jews. They are the same kingdoms as Nebuchadnezzar’s statue in Daniel 2.

Revelation 17:10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.

Note: The kingdoms of the past have descendants. Jesus will have an account to settle with all of them at His return.

  • Psalm 110:6 He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries.
  • Jeremiah 25:31 A noise will come to the ends of the earth— For the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord.”
  • Joel 3:2 I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.
  • Zephaniah 3:8 A Faithful Remnant- “Therefore wait for Me,” says the Lord, “Until the day I rise up for plunder; My determination is to gather the nations To My assembly of kingdoms, To pour on them My indignation, All My fierce anger; All the earth shall be devoured With the fire of My jealousy.
  • Matthew 25:31 -The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations – 31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

  • Zechariah 9:13 For I have bent Judah, My bow, Fitted the bow with Ephraim, And raised up your sons, O Zion, Against your sons, O Greece, And made you like the sword of a mighty man.”

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone (Jesus) was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold.

The Hebrew word in Genesis 1:21 for “great sea creatures” is Tanin: H8577 and is defined as:
dragon, serpent, sea monster
dragon or dinosaur
sea or river monster
serpent, venomous snake

Perhaps Jonah was swallowed by a Sea Monster, represented as Satan.
