Isaiah 52

  • The Millennium with Jesus ruling as King is described Metaphorically and Poetically.

God Redeems Jerusalem

Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake! (To be asleep is to have “passed away”. Awake is to be resurrected.)
Put on your strength, O Zion;
Put on your beautiful garments,
O Jerusalem, the holy city!
  • Jerusalem died a harlot in Revelation at the end of the tribulation used by the Antichrist for his nefarious evil global agenda (like Babylon and the Tower of Babel), he makes Jerusalem the center of the wealth of the world; but he has the spirit of Antiochus IV, Haman, and Hitler whose deepest desire is to annihilate the Jews entirely.
    • Revelation 17:18 And the woman (harlot) whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
    • Revelation 11:8 … the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
  • When Jesus returns at the end of the tribulation, He destroys the Antichrist before setting up His reign on earth.
  • Jerusalem the harlot is resurrected as a beautiful woman, clean and holy, as a bride prepared for her husband.
For the uncircumcised and the unclean
Shall no longer come to you.
  • The word arel (“uncircumcised”) is employed for “impermeable”; not permeable; impassable. It is being hardened of heart, unable to receive God’s Word.
  • See Topic: Circumcision
  • A prophecy of the Millennium when Jesus reigns on earth from Jerusalem.
    Revelation 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. 25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into [p]it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Isaiah 52:Shake yourself from the dust, arise; (shake off the dirt of your grave)
Sit down, O Jerusalem!
Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, (she was buried with her neck cuffed and chained)
O captive daughter of Zion!
Isaiah 52:For thus says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ):
“You have sold yourselves for nothing,
And you shall be redeemed without money.”
  • Jesus redeems Jerusalem with His own blood and death, a priceless currency.
Isaiah 52:For thus says the Lord God (‘ăḏōnāy Yᵊhōvâ):
“My people went down at first
Into Egypt to dwell there (As resident aliens);
Then the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
Isaiah 52:Now therefore, what have I here,” says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
“That My people are taken away for nothing?
Those who rule over them
Make them wail (Mock; Marvel and wail; Boast themselves; Treat them unjustly),” says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
“And My name is blasphemed continually every day.
Isaiah 52:Therefore My people shall know My name
  • His name is “Salvation”
Therefore they shall know in that day
That I am He who speaks:
‘Behold, it is I.’ ”

Behold! It is I!

  • Even to this day the Jews still do not know that it is Jesus who is their proclaimed Messiah and Savior.
Isaiah 52:How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
  • “Salvation” h3444 yᵊšûʿâ pronounced “Yeshua”
Who says to Zion,
“Your God (‘ĕlōhîm) reigns!”
  • Jesus’ Greek name in Hebrew is “Yeshua”
  • It is often translated as “He saves,” to conform with Matthew 1:20-21
    behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Isaiah 52:Your watchmen shall lift up their voices,
With their voices they shall sing together;
For they shall see eye to eye
When the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) brings back Zion.
  • Eye to Eye. The day Jesus reveals Himself to His brethren, the Jews, like Joseph when he revealed himself to his brothers:
    “And behold, your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my mouth that speaks to you. Genesis 45:12
  • Seeing “eye to eye” is to be a witness to Truth.
Isaiah 52:Break forth into joy, sing together,
You waste places of Jerusalem!
For the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) has comforted His people,
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
Isaiah 52:10 The Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), has made bare (revealed His power) His holy arm (Jesus)
In the eyes of all the nations;
And all the ends of the earth shall see
The salvation (yᵊšûʿâ / Yeshua / Jesus) of our God (‘ĕlōhîm).
Isaiah 52:11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there (from other nations),
Touch no unclean thing;
Go out from the midst of her,
Be clean,
You who bear the vessels of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),.
  • The priests serving in the temple must remain “clean”.
Isaiah 52:12 For you shall not go out with haste,
Nor go by flight;
For the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), will go before you,
And the God (‘ĕlōhîm) of Israel will be your rear guard.
  • Unlike the Exodus from Egypt when the Jews had to leave in haste from the Pharaoh’s anger. In remembrance of this night, whenever they celebrated Passover, they ate with their sandals on.

    Exodus 12:11 And thus you shall eat it (the Passover lamb): with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.

    During the Exodus God went before them and after them.

    Exodus 14:19 And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.

The Sin-Bearing Servant

Isaiah 52:13 Behold, My Servant (Jesus) shall deal prudently (prosper);
He shall be exalted and extolled (Lit. be lifted up) and be very high.

Isaiah 52:14 Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage (appearance) was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;
  • The beatings, The crucifixion, The spear.
    See Topic: The Shroud of Turin
  • The Miraculous Shroud of Turn with its matching face cloth took two separate paths over hundreds of years, yet both were preserved. Once they were brought together again they were discovered to match in every way and proven to originate in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus.
Isaiah 52:15 So shall He sprinkle (or startle) many nations.
Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;
For what had not been told them they shall see,
And what they had not heard they shall consider.
