Isaiah 2

  • About the Title: The First is the Return of Jesus, a Day of Wrath, followed by the second, The Prosperous Millennium, a Day of Peace and Joy. Wrath is swallowed up by Joy.

The Future House of God: The Millennium

Isaiah 2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
Isaiah 2:Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s (Yᵊhōvâ) house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
  • The latter days are the end days as compared to “the last days” which is the age of grace between Daniel’s 69th and 70th week. The Tribulation and Millennium are the latter days.
Isaiah 2:Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
To the house of the God (‘ĕlōhîm) of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion (Jerusalem) shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 2:He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks (knives);
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
  • Jesus will rule from Jerusalem with a scepter of iron (strength). He is the “Prince of PEACE”.

The Day of the LordThe Day of The Lord’s Wrath (The Return of Jesus with the Angels and Saints)

Isaiah 2:O house of Jacob, come and let us walk
In the light (truth) of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).
Isaiah 2:For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob,
Because they are filled with eastern ways;
They are soothsayers (sorcerer – figuratively, to act covertly, i.e. practice magic) like the Philistines,
  • The Antichrist who rules in Jerusalem at the last half of the tribulation causes fire to come down from heaven. (Revelation 13:13)
And they are pleased with (Lit: they please themselves in) the children of foreigners (Or clap, shake hands to make bargains with/for children).
  • In the latter days they make bargains for the children who please them. A prophecy concerning the sexual slave trade of children.

Isaiah 2:Their land is also full of silver and gold,
And there is no end to their treasures;
Their land is also full of horses,
And there is no end to their chariots.
  • Wealthy and a large army.
Isaiah 2:Their land is also full of idols;
They worship the work of their own hands,
That which their own fingers have made.
Isaiah 2:People bow down,
And each man humbles himself;
Therefore do not forgive them.
Isaiah 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust,
From the terror of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ)
And the glory of His majesty.
Isaiah 2:11 The lofty (proud) looks of man shall be humbled,
The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
And the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) alone shall be exalted in that day.
Isaiah 2:12 For the day of the Lord of hosts (Yᵊhōvâ ṣāḇā’)
Shall come upon everything proud and lofty,
Upon everything lifted up—
And it shall be brought low—

Isaiah 2:13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,
And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
Isaiah 2:14 Upon all the high mountains,
And upon all the hills that are lifted up;
Isaiah 2:15 Upon every high tower,
And upon every fortified wall;
Isaiah 2:16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish,
And upon all the beautiful sloops.
Isaiah 2:17 The loftiness (pride) of man shall be bowed down,
And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;
The Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) alone will be exalted in that day,
  • Reference verse:
  • Micah 1:3 For behold, the Lord is coming out of His place; He will come down And tread on the high places of the earth.
Isaiah 2:18 But the idols He shall utterly abolish (Or shall utterly vanish).
Isaiah 2:19 They shall go into the holes of the rocks,
And into the caves of the earth (Lit. dust),
From the terror of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ)
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
  • Reference matching verse:
    • Revelation 6:15
      And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,
Isaiah 2:20 In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
  • An idol of silver or gold doesn’t have to be molded. Worshiping an idol comes in many forms.
  • Reference matching verse:
    • Ezekiel 7:19 ‘They will throw their silver into the streets, And their gold will be like refuse; Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them In the day of the wrath of the Lord; They will not satisfy their souls, Nor fill their stomachs, Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles (Or rats, mice) (diggers/searchers of the underground) and bats (dark principalities),
  • Moles symbolically – dig for themselves a pit.
  • Bats symbolically – those who are guided by dark principalities.
Isaiah 2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ)
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
Isaiah 2:22 Sever yourselves from such a man (Lit. Cease yourselves from the man),
Whose breath is in his nostrils;
For of what account is he (Lit. in what is he to be esteemed)?
  • The nostrils are symbolic for “of the flesh” instead of the breath God gave to man at creation by the Holy Spirit.
