INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK OF GENESIS

Genesis is the first book of the Bible and the beginning of history.

GOD’S AGENDA

Genesis sets the foundation for everything else. God had an agenda before He started creation and his agenda began in Genesis.

  • Revelation 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Scripture is not written in such a way that everything is displayed and laid out. Instead, God chooses to reveal Himself in patterns, symbolism, parables, types, metaphors and the like.

  • Matthew 13:35 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
  • “The Lamb” in Revelation 13:8 is symbolic of Jesus. This is a “type of symbolism” carried on throughout scripture and time so that the reader can look for secrets regarding Jesus buried in scripture around the word “lamb”.
    • What attributes does a lamb have that it can be compared to Jesus?
      • A lamb doesn’t make any sound when it is slaughtered.
      • A lamb is an adorable, precious, innocent animal that captures the heart.
      • A lamb is affectionate loving animal which bonds to its owner.
    • This Lamb is God’s one and only son which makes up the beating heart of His Father.
PROPHECY

This applies to all scripture, not just Genesis: When it comes to prophecy, remember that one prophecy can refer to more than one event. Evil Spirits never die – they just wait for the next opportunity.
