The Prophecy Against Syria (Damascus) and Israel

The Wars between various terrorists groups and Israel are growing in intensity as Palestinians set to push Israel into the sea and annihilate the Jews. Antagonism grows across the globe because Jerusalem is becoming a stumbling block possibly leading to WW3. With so much antagonism, will nuclear war heads be used?

Israeli IDF said the strike came after Five rockets had been fired from Syria at northern Israel on Monday night, falling in open areas and causing no injuries or damage. Sirens sounded in the southern Golan Heights communities of Avnei Eitan and Nov. In return Israeli IDF attacked Damascus, one of the oldest cities in the world located in Syria.

Damascus is positioned at the lower edge of Syria, beside the border of Lebanon, the top edge of Jordan, and at the top border of Israel. Likewise, Israel is surrounded by her enemies.

Isaiah 17:1  The burden against Damascus.

  • The meaning of Damascus is “silent is the sackcloth weaver”

“Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
And it will be a ruinous heap.

Isaiah 17:The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks
Which lie down, and no one will make them afraid.

  • Aroer (H6177) means “ruins.”
  • This verse is speaking symbolically of the left over desolation from wars.

Isaiah 17:The fortress also will cease from Ephraim,
The kingdom from Damascus,
And the remnant of Syria;
They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 17:“In that day it shall come to pass
That the glory of Jacob will wane (fade),
And the fatness of his flesh grow lean.

  • Israel will be worn out.

Isaiah 17:It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain,
And reaps the heads with his arm;
It shall be as he who gathers heads of grain
In the Valley of Rephaim.

  • Rephaim: H7497 – rᵊp̄ā’îm
    Giants

Isaiah 17:Yet gleaning grapes will be left in it,
Like the shaking of an olive tree,
Two or three olives at the top of the uppermost bough,
Four or five in its most fruitful branches,”
Says the Lord God of Israel.

Isaiah 17:In that day a man will look to his Maker,
And his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.

  • By the time the seven year Tribulation is culminating – all flesh will be dying, the remnant of Israel’s Jews will see Jesus coming in the clouds, the One whom their ancestors pierced (crucified) and in their affliction they will (earnestly) mourn for Him. Zechariah 12:10

Isaiah 17:He will not look to the altars,
The work of his hands;
He will not respect what his fingers have made,
Nor the wooden images nor the incense altars.

  • Israel will not rely on anything, including their decimated “IDF”, for their Salvation.

Isaiah 17:In that day his strong cities will be as a forsaken bough
And an uppermost branch,
Which they left because of the children of Israel;
And there will be desolation.

Isaiah 17:10 Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation,
And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold (refuge),
Therefore you will plant pleasant plants
And set out foreign seedlings;

  • The land of Israel has blossomed in the desert. Israel has been the number one exporter of the world’s flowers.

Isaiah 17:11 In the day you will make your plant to grow,
And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish;
But the harvest will be a heap of ruins
In the day of grief and desperate sorrow.

  • The day of grief and desperate sorrow is the seven year tribulation; the kingdom of the Antichrist. The problems between Israel and Damascus suggest the timing of END TIMES and the rush to Armageddon.

Isaiah 17:12 Woe to the multitude of many people
Who make a noise like the roar of the seas,
And to the rushing of nations
That make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

  • As the turbulence of many rivers rushing river to the oceans, also the armies of the world to Armageddon in the plains of Megiddo.
  • The nations rush because God is gathering them.
    • Europe, Turkey, Africa, All the Mideast, Russia, and China.

Isaiah 17:13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters;
But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away,
And be chased like the chaff (like the chaff of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue Daniel 2:35) of the mountains before the wind,
Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Isaiah 17:14 Then behold, at eventide, trouble!

  • Eventide: In the evening.

And before the morning, he is no more.
This is the portion of those who plunder us,
And the lot of those who rob us.
