Isaiah 65

  • About the title: the Lion and the Lamb are both Jesus (v.25), at His second and first descent to earth. The first time He came as meek as a lamb. The second time He comes as the Lion of Judah with wrath in His nostrils.
  • If He is both, He is a “Lambion”. The first is love, the second is justice.

The Righteousness of God’s Judgment

Isaiah 65:1 “I was sought by those who did not ask for Me;
I was found by those who did not seek Me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’
To a nation that was not called by My name.
  • The prophecy of the mystery of the Gentile Church Age of Grace.
Isaiah 65:I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people (the nation of the Jews),
Who walk in a way that is not good,
According to their own thoughts (the lies of Satan);
  • God’s “Hands” are symbolic of the Holy Spirit. He has reached out “all day long” to the Jews. Those who are called by His name.
Isaiah 65:A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face;
Who sacrifice in gardens,
And burn incense on altars of brick;
  • Men make bricks, but only God can make a Rock.
Isaiah 65:Who sit among the graves,
And spend the night in the tombs;
Who eat swine’s flesh,
And the broth of abominable things (Unclean meats, Lev. 7:18; 19:7) is in their vessels;
Isaiah 65:Who say, ‘Keep to yourself,
Do not come near me,
For I am holier than you!’
These are smoke (Cause My wrath to smoke) in My nostrils,
A fire that burns all the day.
  • Isaiah 66:2 Says the LORD. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
Isaiah 65:“Behold, it is written before Me:
I will not keep silence, but will repay—
Even repay into their bosom
Isaiah 65:Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together,”
Says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
“Who have burned incense on the mountains
And blasphemed (cursed) Me on the hills;
Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.”
  • Luke 16:23 And being in torments in Hades, he (the Rich Man, a Jew) lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham (the Father of the Jews) afar off, and Lazarus (A Gentile) in his bosom (paradise, the Garden of Eden ie gan ʿēḏen).
  • Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Isaiah 65:Thus says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ):
“As the new wine is found in the cluster,
And one says, ‘Do not destroy it,
For a blessing is in it,’
So will I do for My servants’ sake,
That I may not destroy them all.
  • The cluster has both bad grapes and good grapes. The good grapes are a remnant and a blessing.
Isaiah 65:I will bring forth descendants from Jacob,
And from Judah an heir of My mountains;
My elect shall inherit it,
And My servants shall dwell there.
Isaiah 65:10 Sharon shall be a fold of flocks,
And the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down,
For My people who have sought Me (the Jews).
Isaiah 65:11 “But you (the bad grapes) are those who forsake the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
Who forget My holy mountain,
Who prepare a table for Gad (Lit. Troop or Fortune; a pagan deity),
And who furnish a drink offering for Meni (Lit. Number or Destiny; a pagan deity).
  • Idol Worshipers.
Isaiah 65:12 Therefore I will number you for the sword,
And you shall all bow down to the slaughter;
Because, when I called, you did not answer;
When I spoke, you did not hear,
But did evil before My eyes,
And chose that in which I do not delight.”
  • Isaiah 49:8 Thus says the Lord: “In an acceptable time I have heard You, And in the day of salvation I have helped You; I will preserve You and give You As a covenant to the people (the nations/the gentiles), To restore the earth (a new earth), To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages;
  • II Corinthians 6:2 Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.
  • Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
Isaiah 65:13 Therefore thus says the Lord God (Yᵊhōvâ ‘ăḏōnāy):
“Behold, My servants (good grapes who are a remnant of Jews) shall eat,
But you (bad grapes) shall be hungry;
Behold, My servants (good grapes) shall drink,
But you (bad grapes) shall be thirsty;
Behold, My servants (good grapes) shall rejoice,
But you (bad grapes) shall be ashamed;
Isaiah 65:14 Behold, My servants (good grapes) shall sing for joy of heart,
But you (bad grapes) shall cry for sorrow of heart,
And wail for grief of spirit (Or a broken spirit).
  • To be “chosen” means to serve. It is both prestigious and demanding. The Jews will be priests during the Millennium when Jesus rules on earth; to serve the nations of the world and be the servants of Jesus.
Isaiah 65:15 You (bad grapes) shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen;
For the Lord God (Yᵊhōvâ ‘ăḏōnāy) will slay you,
And call His servants by another (a different) name (so that good grapes are not known by the name of the bad grapes);
Isaiah 65:16 So that he who blesses himself in the earth
Shall bless himself in the God (‘ĕlōhîm ‘āmēn) of truth;
And he who swears in the earth
Shall swear by the God of truth (‘ĕlōhîm ‘āmēn);
Because the former troubles are forgotten,
And because they are hidden from My eyes.
  • To be hidden from God’s eyes is to be clothed in the blood of the Lamb.
  • Isaiah 1:18
  • “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.” (Hidden from God’s eyes like cleansed white wool hidden in snow.)

The Only Thing God Can’t See is the Sin of a Saved Man

  • Psalm 139:7-12 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day;
    The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

  • Isaiah 11:7 The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
  • The wolf and the lion have changed, but nothing has changed for the serpent; he still eats dust and during this Millennial period he will be bound in the bottomless pit, unable to carry out his exploits of greed, power, and pain.
