Isaiah 12

A Hymn of Praise

Isaiah 12:1 And in that day you will say:
  • “In that day” is which day?
  • It is the future 1,000 year millennium to come when Jesus reigns on earth. It is like the 7th day of creation, a day of rest.
    • II Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Isaiah 12:1 (Continued) “O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
  • “Though You were angry with me”: This could be an allusion to the time of the seven year tribulation, in the pattern of the the seven days (years) of affliction prior to the Day of Atonement when (in the same pattern) Jesus would return to the earth.
Isaiah 12:1 Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.

God’s anger is turned away for the Jews at His return to earth as exemplified by Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, called “The Return”.

  1. Who is the Comforter?
  • John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (paraklēto), that He may abide with you forever—
  • Paraklētos g3875 succourer, to help or relieve, give aid. An an advocate, intercessor.
  • I John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
  • Isaiah 59:16 He (bg: The Father) saw that there was no man (bg: Son of Man), and wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm (the Son) brought salvation (Jesus) for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him (the Father).
Isaiah 12:Behold, God (El) is my salvation (Yeshua),
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah (Yah), the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation (Yeshua).’ ”
  • II. Note the different names of God in one verse: El, Yeshua, Yah, and Yᵊhōvâ.
  • Note:  Two are Jesus’ name in Hebrew: Yeshua.

With the substitution for Jesus’ name it would read:

  • Isaiah 12:Behold, God (El) is my Jesus (Yeshua/Salvation),
    I will trust and not be afraid;
    ‘For Yah (Yah), the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), is my strength and song;
    He also has become my Jesus (Yeshua/Salvation)’ ”
Isaiah 12:Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation (Yeshua).
