Impending Judgment on the Earth

• The following verses describe the desolation of the earth during the last three and a half years of the seven severe years of tribulation, also known as Daniel’s 70^th week. Jesus described this time as a time of trouble unlike any other.
  • Matthew 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

• It is also called the Day of the Lord’s Wrath.
  • Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance of all those who dwell in the land (Israel).

• An overview of the seven year tribulation begins sometime in the future when a seven year peace treaty is signed by a man who will set himself up to be the Jew’s messiah.
  • John 5:43 I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

• With the newly signed Peace Treaty, Jerusalem becomes the center of the world’s prosperity and economics.  However; the Fake Messiah betrays the Jews after three and a half years. The Jews run for their lives because his heart is set on their annihilation. He sets himself up as “god” in the holy of holies of the newly created third temple.
  • Matthew 24:15 [The Great Tribulation] “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), ¹⁶ “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. ¹⁷ Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. ¹⁸ And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. ¹⁹ But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! ²⁰ And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. ²¹ For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

• During the last three and a half years God’s wrath is poured out on the earth in plagues, natural disasters, and a nuclear war.  Satan is thrown out of heaven when he indwells the False Messiah, the man of intrigue. In the last three and a half years the earth suffers both God’s wrath and Satan’s wrath.

• The False Messiah is assassinated.
  • Micah 5:5b When the Assyrian comes into our land, And when he treads in our palaces, Then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princely men.
• And, like his False identity, he also has a False Resurrection. He is given “breath” through biological manipulation, computer generation, artificial intelligence, robotics, cloning, and the like. He becomes a computer “server” for all mankind who are forced to be linked to him.

• All men are forced to take his mark in order to work or eat. This mark is not a computer chip but more likely a “bio-chip” inserted into man’s brain or through his hand. Man is owned and controlled by this “beast” of a man of whom scripture says he does “monstrous” things.
  • Revelation 13:17 And that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
  • Joel 2:20 “But I will remove far from you the northern army, And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, With his face toward the eastern sea And his back toward the western sea; His stench will come up, And his foul odor will rise, Because he has done monstrous things.”

• At the end of these seven years, Jesus appears in the clouds with all His angels and all His saints to destroy this man of sin and to punish Satan at the battle of Armageddon.

• A simple timeline showing the events during man’s time on earth:

• Isaiah 24 is the description of God’s judgment during the end times.

Isaiah 24:¹ Behold, the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) makes the earth empty and makes it waste, distorts its surface and scatters abroad its inhabitants.

• The remnant of Jews were scattered for the last time in the middle of the tribulation.
• The earth is unrecognizable, the mountains are leveled, and few men survive after the disasters, nuclear wars, and diseases.
  • Revelation 16:20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
  • Zechariah 14:4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

Isaiah 24:² And it shall be:
As with the people, so with the priest;
As with the servant, so with his master;
As with the maid, so with her mistress;
As with the buyer, so with the seller;
As with the lender, so with the borrower;
As with the creditor, so with the debtor.

• Not only is the earth leveled, but titles and a person’s status cease to mean anything. Everyone is leveled. Everyone is equally debased to their lowest level. Ruin will come to everyone without exception. In the end, riches mean nothing.
  • Ezekiel 7:19 ‘They will throw their silver into the streets, And their gold will be like refuse; Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them In the day of the wrath of the Lord; They will not satisfy their souls, Nor fill their stomachs, Because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.

Isaiah 24:³ The land (specifically Israel) shall be entirely emptied (to empty, figuratively, to depopulate) and utterly plundered (Hebrew for either “snatched away” as the rapture and resurrection for the tribulation saints and martyrs OR “robbed and taken as prey” OR both),
For the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) has spoken this word.

• There are two possible meanings for this verse:
  To be entirely emptied can mean to be empty, figuratively, to depopulate. This can be in the sense of devastation OR the resurrection and rapture of the tribulation saints and martyrs. The Hebrew word Is bāqaq H1238.
  To be “utterly plundered” is to mean “robbed” OR “snatched away”. The Hebrew word is bāzaz H962.

• “For the Lord has spoken this word”; Remember, when God speaks…..by the Word of His Mouth, He created the heavens and the earth. At creation God spoke the worlds into existence, flourishing and fruitful. Now God is speaking a curse and the world is decaying and desolated.

Isaiah 24:⁴ The earth mourns and fades away,
The world languishes and fades away;
The haughty (proud) people of the earth languish.

• God cannot, and will not, allow the prideful to continue their unholy agenda.

Isaiah 24:⁵ The earth is also defiled (desecrated, polluted) under its inhabitants,

• Why is the earth in such decay? The next verse explains.

Isaiah 24:⁵  (Cont) Because they have transgressed the laws,
Changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

1. What is the everlasting covenant? How can a man break it?

• Just prior to the seven year tribulation, all believers are taken out of the earth; the dead in Christ were resurrected and those who were alive were raptured, meeting the Lord in the air.

• Since all believers are gone, the “Age of Grace” is over. It is likened to Noah’s ark: Once the door is shut, it’s too late to catch the next boat. This is eloquently described in the book of Hebrews and Matthews.
  • Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
  • Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

• Since the “Age of Grace” is over, God focuses on the Jews during the seven years. This is Daniel’s 70^th week. The dispensation of “The Law” is once again in place.

• The only people left are those who have no relationship with God until the two witnesses appear, then 144,000 young, virgin, Jewish men are sealed, and then those who hear their message and become martyrs.

B. God’s covenant with the Jewish people is the everlasting covenant.

•  What is the ordinance that was changed?

• The male global, political leader and his religious counterpart cause everyone to take a “mark” for their unholy agenda. God “seals” His people but the Antichrist and the False Prophet “mark” theirs.

• This is an agenda which is an abomination to God. It demands the worship of this leader, removing God as man’s creator.
  • Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
  • Revelation 16:2 First Bowl: Loathsome Sores – So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
  • Revelation 19:20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.
  • Revelation 15:2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.
  • Revelation 20:4 The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years – And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

C. How has the earth been defiled by its inhabitants?

• Man’s agenda is the path of greed: war, pollution, mining, extortion, corruption, and the hatred of the Jews.

Isaiah 24:⁶ Therefore the curse (both literal and symbolic of thorns) has devoured the earth,
And those who dwell in it are desolate (held guilty).
Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned,

• The result of man’s agenda has created nothing but self destruction. Nuclear war has devastated the landscape. People are literally “burned”. Another burning is designated for their future: the Lake of Fire.
  • Isaiah 33:14 [At Jesus’ Return] The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?”
  • Revelation 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

• God is focusing on the Jews but the entire world is drawn into Jerusalem’s conflict when Gog and Magog attacked Jerusalem in the middle of the Tribulation.

• God will judge the inhabitants of the earth for what they have done to the earth and to other men. Only a small percent of the population is left.

Isaiah 24:⁷ The new wine fails, the vine languishes,
All the merry-hearted sigh.
⁸ The mirth of the tambourine ceases,
The noise of the jubilant ends,
The joy of the harp ceases.
⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song;
Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.

Isaiah 24:¹⁰ The city of confusion (Jerusalem) is broken down;
Every house is shut up, so that none may go in.

• What causes people to shut their doors? Plagues, terrorism, fear, war, a lack of safety.
• Or emptiness when no one is left.

Isaiah 24:¹¹ There is a cry for wine in the streets,
All joy is darkened,
The mirth of the land is gone.

• Alcohol is one way to medicate one’s emotional pain.

Isaiah 24:¹² In the city (Jerusalem) desolation is left,
And the gate is stricken with destruction.

• When the gate to a city is destroyed, the city is open to any enemy.  The Gate which was protecting the Jewish people in the past was God.
  • John 10:7 [Jesus the Good Shepherd] Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door (the Gate) of the sheep.

• When God has been exiled from a land, the vacuum invites evil. The gate of protection is gone.

Isaiah 24:¹³ When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people,
It shall be like the shaking of an olive tree,
Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.

• The 3rd order of the 1st resurrection of believers is called “the gleanings”. The 1st order was Jesus and the tombs of the saints being opened known as “first fruits”. The 2nd order is when the Bride of Christ is resurrected and the rapture, the “main harvest”.

A. When Jesus Returns To Set up His Kingdom on Earth – The Jews and the Righteous Celebrate

Isaiah 24:¹⁴ They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing;
For the majesty of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ)
They shall cry aloud from the sea.

Isaiah 24:¹⁵ Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light,
The name of the Lord God (Yᵊhōvâ ‘ĕlōhîm) of Israel in the coast lands of the sea.

• “In the dawning light” = the East

• Currently Israel IS the coast land of the Mediterranean Sea.

Isaiah 24:¹⁶ From the ends of the earth we have heard songs:
“Glory to the righteous!”

B. However; When Jesus Returns and Sets up His Kingdom on Earth – Those Who Took Part in the Antichrist’s Kingdom are Damned

But I said, “I am ruined, ruined! (Literally Leanness to me, leanness to me)
Woe to me!
The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously,
Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.”

• Revelation 18:11 “And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore:
• God’s judgment have arrived for the wicked.

Isaiah 24:¹⁷ Fear and the pit and the snare
Are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth.

Isaiah 24:¹⁸ And it shall be
That he who flees from the noise of the fear
Shall fall into the pit,
And he who comes up from the midst of the pit
Shall be caught (Literally: taken) in the snare;

• There is no safe place.

Run from the war and find the plague, run from the plague and find an enemy, run from the enemy and find death.
For the windows from on high are open,
And the foundations of the earth are shaken.

• “The windows from on high are open”: perhaps alluding to Satan being thrown out of heaven onto the earth.

Isaiah 24:¹⁹ The earth is violently broken,
The earth is split open,
The earth is shaken exceedingly.

• What forces could cause the earth to be violently broken, split open, shaken exceedingly? Is it a meteor, a nuclear war, Satan thrown onto the earth, or all of the aforementioned?

Isaiah 24:²⁰ The earth shall reel (stagger) to and fro like a drunkard,
And shall totter like a hut;
Its transgression shall be heavy upon it,
And it will fall, and not rise again.

• Revelation 21:1 [All Things Made New] Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

• Isaiah 65:17 [The Glorious New Creation] “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

• Isaiah 66:22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants (the Jewish remnant) and your name (the Jewish lineage) remain.

• II Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

• Revelation 21:1 [All Things Made New] Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

• When Jesus returns to earth with His saints and His angels, the sinners already know their destiny:

• Isaiah 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? (hell)”

• But the few Jews who have escaped and survived finally recognize their Messiah, the Jesus who was crucified. They cry out in delight from their anguish. Their Messiah has come to save them.

• II Chronicles 20:9 ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’

• Psalm 107:28 Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses.

• Zephaniah 1:14 The great day of the Lord is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out.

• Hosea 5:15 I will return again to My place (after Jesus first ascent) Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”

Isaiah 24:²¹ It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) will punish on high the host of exalted ones,
And on the earth the kings of the earth.

• God’s judgment is on Satan’s fallen angels, the principalities of the air, and the kings of the earth.
  • Jude 1:⁶ And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
• These kings could be the ten kings who gave their power to the Antichrist Beast.

Isaiah 24:²² They (the wicked of the earth and the hosts of heaven) will be gathered together,
As prisoners are gathered in the pit (dungeon),
And will be shut up in the prison (the bottomless pit);
After many days they will be punished.

• The False Messiah, the Antichrist, along with his religious cohort, the False Prophet, who changed the ordinances for how mankind should worship this “new” god appear to be delivered to the Jews for sentencing, much like the Nuremburg trials after the holocaust.
  • Psalm 74:14 You broke the heads (kings) of Leviathan (Satan) in pieces, And gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness (the Jews who were hid in the wilderness).
  • This man of sin, the Antichrist, is symbolically served up to the Jews for justice, to be “eaten alive”.
• The Fallen Angels and Evil Spirits:
  • II Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
  • Jude 1:6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;

• Isaiah 27:1 [Israel Will Be Restored] In that day the Lord with His severe sword, great and strong, Will punish Leviathan (Satan indwelling the Antichrist) the fleeing serpent (fleeing from Jesus’ armies), Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea (of people).

• Zechariah 14:³ Then the Lord will go forth
  And fight against those nations,
  As He fights in the day of battle (Armageddon).
  ⁴ And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
  Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
  And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
  From east to west, (See Topic: Biblical Directions)
  Making a very large valley;
  Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
  And half of it toward the south. (See Topic: Biblical Directions, The North-south is the location of the Valley of Hinnon, also called “Hell”, where children were burnt alive to idols)
  ⁵ Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus, the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with You.

• Jude 1:¹⁴ Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, ¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

• There will be a separation between the sheep (the nations who helped the Jews) and the goats (the nations who persecuted the Jews.)
  • Matthew 25:32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

Isaiah 24:²³ Then the moon will be disgraced
And the sun ashamed;
For the Lord of hosts (Yᵊhōvâ ṣāḇā’) will reign
On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
And before His elders, gloriously.

• Jesus sets up his reign in Jerusalem. He is “The Light of Men”. His reign is so glorious that poetically, the light of the moon and the light of the sun are shamed in comparison.
  
  • Rev 21:²²  The Glory of the New Jerusalem – But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. ²⁴ And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. ²⁵ Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). ²⁶ And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. ²⁷ But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
