Isaiah 27

  • The phrase “In that day” repeats itself throughout Isaiah 27. “That Day” is the day of Jesus’ return when His wrath whips through Israel’s enemies (the gentile nations who have come against her). It is the time appointed to cover the nation Israel’s sins – the end of Daniel’s 70th week. See Isaiah 7 “In that Day”.
  • In Jewish Feasts, Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement is when the High Priest (once a year) enters the Holiest of Holies, offers the sacrifice for the sins of the NATION and with his thumb applies the blood of the sacrifice to the Mercy Seat on the Ark of the Covenant.

Israel Will Be Restored when Jesus Returns

  • Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast (the Antichrist), the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him (Jesus) who sat on the horse and against His army.
  • Jude 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints …
Isaiah 27:In that day the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) with His severe sword, great and strong,
Will punish Leviathan (the Antichrist indwelt by Satan) the fleeing serpent (running from the armies of the Lord),
  • Isaiah 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord (Jesus)! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab (the Leviathan) apart, And wounded the serpent?
Leviathan that twisted (coiled-ready to strike) serpent;
And He (Jesus) will slay the reptile (Antichrist indwelt by Satan) that is in the sea (of people).
  • The Leviathan is Satan. He is described as being twisted. Satan is a reptile-also described as a serpent, a dragon, a sea monster, a sea beast, and also a crocodile.
    • The serpent “coils” and the concept of comparison is the twisting of truth. Even the crocodile grabs its prey, pulls it “down” and rolls with it, causing it to drown.
    • In Genesis, the serpent is described as being “subtle”, “crafty”, both of which indicate the manipulation of people with his twisted lies.
    • Anything that curls or coils seems to point to deception. “Rahab”, the harlot who saved the spies by hiding them under straw or hay is one of the names for “Leviathan” due to the concept of deception. (Joshua 6)
    • Another translation for Leviathan is “to mourn” or “sorrow”.
    • He lives in the sea (masses) of people and causes the water to boil, storm, and become foul, as he stirs up the waters with his presence. (Job 41)
    • He gets excited when he hears cursing, it attracts him. (Job 3:8)
    • He is called the King over of the people of pride.
    • Satan, the sea monster, is called “The Leviathan sits idle (Rahab-Hem-Shebeth)” For the Egyptians shall help in vain and to no purpose in Isaiah 30:7.
  • Capturing the Antichrist is the summation of the ending of the Battle of Armageddon.

  • This Sea Monster is also represented by the feet of iron and clay in Daniel 2, the fourth beast in Daniel 7, and the beast with ten horns in Revelation 17. It is the Antichrist who is ruled by Satan.
  • Literally, as a verb, “Leviathan” means “to mourn”.
  • The ten horns are the descendants of the ten tribes of Psalm 83 and the battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38.
  • The name for the literal sea monster that swallowed Jonah is also a “Leviathan” (daag) who seems to be a metaphor for Satan.
  • Satan indwells leaders including the coming Antichrist:
    • Satan, the sea monster indwells people:
    • Ezekiel 29:3 Speak, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great monster who lies in the midst of his rivers, Who has said, ‘My River (people of the sea?) is my own; I have made it for myself.’
    • Ezekiel 32:2 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: ‘You are like a young lion among the nations, And you are like a monster in the seas, Bursting forth in your rivers, Troubling the waters with your feet, And fouling their rivers.

The Restoration of Israel in the Millennium

Isaiah 27:In that day (when Jesus returns) sing (happiness) to her (Israel),
“A vineyard of red wine!
  • See Isaiah 27 {5 of 5}
Isaiah 27:I, the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), keep it (the nation Israel),
I water it every moment;
Lest any hurt it,
I keep it night and day.
  • The Lord remains vigilant for His chosen people during the Millennium.
Isaiah 27:Fury is not (no longer) in Me.
  • The Day of the Lord’s Wrath is finished.
  • The Battle of Armageddon is over.
  • The Antichrist is captured and slain. Isaiah 27:1
  • The Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire.
  • Satan is bound for 1,000 years and thrown into the Bottomless Pit.

The Retelling of Events

Who would set briers and thorns
Against Me in battle?
I would go through them,
I would burn them together.
  • The Battle of Armageddon
  • Israel’s enemies are compared to thorns and briars. (thorns are symbolic of curses and briars of desolation)
  • Psalm 58:9 Before your pots can feel the burning thorns, He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, As in His living and burning wrath.
Isaiah 27:Or let him take hold of My strength,
That he may make peace with Me;
And he SHALL make peace with Me.”
  • “Clay” is the mid-eastern terrorists on Nebuchadnezzar’s Statue. The “clay” refuses to adhere to the legs of iron (global peace) on Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. These terrorists have an “everlasting hatred” of the Jews. Even throughout the Millennium, they will continue to hate … but Jesus will rule with a rod of iron: they WILL make peace whether they like it or not. These terrorists are those of the battle of Psalm 83, those of the battle of Gog and MaGog, and those of Armageddon. They are like flies that swarm and regroup.
    • Revelation 19:15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.
Isaiah 27:Those who come (the generations of Jews to come) He shall cause to take root in Jacob;
Israel shall blossom and bud,
And fill the face of the world with fruit (prosperity by the Word of God).
Isaiah 27:Has He struck Israel (in the tribulation) as He struck those who struck Him (at his crucifixion)? Or has He been slain (Crucified) according to the slaughter (during the Seven-Year Tribulation) of those who were slain by Him (At Armageddon)?
  • See Isaiah 27 {2 of 2}
Isaiah 27:In measure, by sending it away,
You contended with it.
He removes it (the curse) by His rough wind
In the day of the east wind.
Isaiah 27:Therefore by this (the completion of the Tribulation) the iniquity of Jacob will be covered;
  • The purpose of the Seven Years of Tribulation is to being every last Jew into the knowledge of their Messiah. The Seven Year Tribulation is Daniel’s 70th Week (See: Daniel Chapter 9)

    Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins (the seven year Tribulation: “the iniquity of Jacob will be covered), To make reconciliation for iniquity (the Return of Jesus), To bring in everlasting righteousness (the Millennium), To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy (Jesus).
  • The End of the Seven Year Tribulation is Jesus’ Return, it is the simultaneous completions of the seventh seal, trumpet, and bowl: 777.

And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin:
When he makes all the stones of the altar
Like chalkstones that are beaten to dust,
Wooden images (Heb. Asherim, Canaanite deities) and incense altars shall not stand.

A Review of the Effects of the Tribulation

Isaiah 27:10 Yet the fortified city will be desolate,
The habitation forsaken and left like a wilderness;

Isaiah 27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day (the Day of Jesus’ Return)
That the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) will thresh,

  • Threshing is the word for cutting down and reaping.
