Isaiah 27

  • A Focus on Verse 7 in Isaiah 27.
Isaiah 27:Has He (Jesus) struck (His People) Israel as He struck those who struck Him (The people who beat and crucified Him)?
Or has He been slain (crucified) according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him? (The Battle of Armageddon).
  • What did the Jews do that was worse than refusing to enter the promised land? God was angry with them and caused them to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. (Otherwise, they could have entered ~11 days after leaving Egypt).

Instead of entering the promised land, they spied out the land for 40 days and decided not to do what God told them to do. They were afraid of the giants, but God planned on chasing the giants out of the land with bees.

As a consequence, God pronounced they would be disciplined. He gave them one year of wandering in the desert for each day they spied out the land.

“According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection. (Num 14:34)
  • If their rebellion of not entering the promised land made God angry, what could the Jews do that would invoke even greater anger?
    • Remember the words the people called out when Pilate was ready to release Jesus?:

They cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” (John 19:15)

And all the people (the Jews) answered and said, “HIS BLOOD be ON US AND ON OUR CHILDREN (descendants)”, demanding His crucifixion. (Matt 27:25)
  • Jesus will return in the clouds after their sins have been covered as stated by Daniel’s 70 week prophecy: (the first 69 weeks are history, the 70th week is in our future) (Dan
  • How many “days” of affliction did Jesus undergo? SEVEN (From the day after the Triumphal Entry until the day before the Resurrection.

Note: Jewish days begin in the evenings and end at twilight of the following day. Roman days are days and evenings. Jesus’ 7 days of affliction begin Sunday, Nisan 11 and continue through Saturday, Nisan 17.

Jesus’ rejection and affliction began immediately after his Triumphal Entry when the Pharisees were incensed until His resurrection, a total of 7 days. Jesus was crucified In the middle of the week (a Wednesday), hanging between (in the middle of) heaven and hell, making intercession for both a sinner and a saint, being crucified in the middle of the one on his left and the one on his right.

The severity of the crucifixion is demonstrated by the excruciating wounds on Jesus’ burial sheet recently proven to be authentic:

As the nation Israel, Also Jesus:

Isaiah 1:Why should you (the nation Israel) be stricken again? (repeatedly)
(Because) You will (continue to) revolt more and more. The whole head is sick (with curses: thorns),
And the whole heart faints (the innermost being). From the sole of the foot (pierced) even to the head (beard pulled out, crown of thorns, bruised face),
There is no soundness in it,
    But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores;
They have not been closed or bound up,
    Or soothed with ointment.
  • To cure the sin of the Jews, Jesus must be stricken as bad as they struck Him.
  • The common thread between Israel’s sins in Isaiah’s time, Jesus’ time, and the Seven-Year Tribulation?
The beautiful city, Jerusalem, plays the part of a harlot: (Isaiah 1:21, Hosea 4:10-15 &18, Matthew 23:27, and Rev. ch. 17)

  • If the dictum of Numbers 14:34 held true for the sins of the Exodus (for each day of disobedience they received one year to know God’s rejection), then it makes sense for it to also hold true for Jesus’ week of affliction (Jesus’ 7 days of affliction becomes the 7 years of affliction for the Jews). The “sins of the nation” are not covered until Daniel’s 70th week is completed:

IF the people of Jesus’ time would have accepted Him as their Jewish Messiah and King, the timeline would have looked like this:
