The prophet, Isaiah prophesied
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and His name shall be called Immanuel (meaning God with us).
The concept of a virgin birth has been attacked repeatedly because the implications are immeasurable. Jesus was either born supernaturally, by God, or he was born out of wedlock, a highly offensive “bastard” in Jesus’ day, or “a son of fornication”.
According to the book of Luke Chapter 1
Luke 1:26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus (Greek). 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
The attacks on the virgin birth of Christ have centered around the word “virgin” and claims it actually means “young woman”.
They should have focused instead on Genesis 3:15 and the word “seed”. Biblically the seed always refers to a man. Women do not have “seed”.
In Genesis 3:15 God’s son is called “the seed of the woman”.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity (conflict/war) between you (the serpent Satan) and the woman (Mary),
and between your seed (The Arrogant Jews “Sons of the Devil” John 8:44) and her Seed (Jesus);
He (Jesus) shall bruise your head (power), and you shall bruise His heel (power).”
John 8:44 calls the Jews the “seed of the serpent”.
John 8:44 You (the Jews) are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
This is the first prophecy of a virgin birth made in scripture. Except for the virgin birth, there is no such thing as a “seed of the woman”.
It was made at the beginning of creation with Adam and Eve and was fulfilled thousands of years later in the gospels.
Proving the existence of God, veracity of scripture, and the good news of the gospel; that Jesus was born of a virgin as the “Son of God”.
