ABRAHAM’S PASSOVER:
- The Meaning of “Passover” is passing over death. Isaac was “passed over” when a Ram was substituted. The Hebrews were “passed over” when the Angel of Death passed over them but killed the first-born of the Egyptians.
- The only Passover where the substitute wasn’t “passed over” was Jesus on the cross.
READING SCRIPTURE:
- Exodus 12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day (Passover-Nisan 14)—it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.
WHAT WAS THE “SAME DAY”
- The day the Hebrews came out of Egypt was Passover. They had painted their doorposts and lintel with blood from a lamb killed at twilight. At midnight the Pharaoh discovered his eldest son, the one to take the throne, was dead and the Pharaoh ordered Moses and the Hebrews to get out of Egypt.
- What happened 430 years earlier?
The Greek Septuagint explained it perfectly: The 430 years include the time the Hebrews were in Egypt AND Canaan. See Timeline BC: Notable Events - Nissan 14, 1876 BC: Abraham sacrifices Isaac. Abraham went to Mt. Moriah to sacrifice Isaac as commanded by God who was testing his faith. [Gen 22:1-18] Abraham calls Isaac a “lad” or a young man… Isaac was 15 years old. The age of a warrior is 20, and at that age he would have been referred to as a man. This event is a correlation to the crucifixion of Jesus on Nissan 14 and to the release of the captives on Passover Nissan 14 when Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt.
- Counting the years of the genealogies: one can surmise the sacrifice of Isaac occurred on the same day as the Exodus Passover (before there was a Passover). It also occurred at the same place that future generations will celebrate Passover in the temple: Furthermore; The same place and the same day as Passover, AND the same DAY of the week!) See Timeline BC: Notable Events
- All of which wraps itself around Nissan 14, Passover Day.

What are the odds all three Passovers would fall on the same day of the week over so many years?
- Isaac was spared, but Jesus was not, although both were laid on wood.

The pattern of 3-1-3 totaling 7 occurs from Nisan 11 to Nisan 17. It’s all about Jesus – when it comes to Passover, He is always in the middle: See Topic: Jesus in the middle.
