Galatians 6

Bear and Share Burdens

Galatians 6:¹ Brethren, if a man is (caught) overtaken in any trespass (a sin), you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

Sin creates pain, judgment compounds pain, but mercy soothes the fire.

Galatians 6:² Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

  Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Galatians 6:³ For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Galatians 6:⁴ But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

Galatians 6:⁵ For each one shall bear his own load.

Be Generous and Do Good

Galatians 6:⁶ Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

Galatians 6:⁷ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Galatians 6:⁸ For he who sows to his flesh, will, of the flesh, reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit, will, of the Spirit, reap everlasting life.

• Las Vegas advertises, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas”.
  The meaning? Whatever sin you desire to engage in will stay a secret in Vegas.
  
  • Lies produce: Unwanted babies. Unwanted abortions. Sexually transmitted diseases. The suffering of forced sex trafficking. Kidnapped children. Addicted gamblers. Failed marriages. Drugs. Prostitution. Bankruptcy. Robberies.
    
• In Genesis, this is the world Satan creates. It isn’t “good”.
  
  It is:
  Broken Diamonds (marriages), Broken Clubs (character), Broken Spades (dreams) … Broken Hearts.
  
  There is nothing hidden from the eyes of God:
  Psalm 44:21 Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
  Luke 12:2 For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
  

The secrets of debased men, planted in darkness to bear seeds of thorns and curses, are destined for the fire.

The secrets of God, hid in the darkness, bloom for the righteous, bear seeds of thorns as blessings, destined to become a hedge of protection.

Galatians 6:⁹ And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Galatians 6:¹⁰ Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Glory Only in the Cross

Galatians 6:¹¹ See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand!

Galatians 6:¹² As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

Galatians 6:¹³ For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.

Galatians 6:¹⁴ But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world (OR: by which, the cross).

Galatians 6:¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

• The only circumcision that matters is the circumcision of the heart and its desire for worldly things.

Blessing and a Plea

Galatians 6:¹⁶ And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

Galatians 6:¹⁷ From now on let no one trouble (judge) me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

Galatians 6:¹⁸ Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
