Isaiah Sent to King Ahaz

Isaiah 7:Then the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son, Shear-Jashub (Lit. A Remnant Shall Return), at the end of the aqueduct from the upper pool, on the highway to the Fuller’s Field,
  • A “fuller” is someone who cleans and whitens clothes. Fullers were responsible for cleaning, bleaching, and softening cloth and garments, a process known as fulling.
    Fullers were also symbolic in the Bible of cleansing, atonement, purification, sanctification, and transformation.
  • Reference Verses:
    • Isaiah 36:2 The king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to king Hezekiah with a large army. He stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool in the fuller’s field highway.
    • II Kings 18:17 The king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
  • The Washer’s Field is located in the Valley of Hinnom, where children were sacrificed by fire to idols.
    • Jeremiah 19:6, it is altered by the prophet to the “Valley of Slaughter”. Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that this place shall no more be called Tophet (“place of fire”) or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
    • Fires were kept burning to consume the rubbish of the city (including bodies) leading to the Ge-Hinnom (New Testament “Gehenna”) becoming a “type of Hell”.
