Zechariah 14
Zechariah 14:9 And the Lord (yᵊhōvâ) shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord (yᵊhōvâ) is one,”
And His name one.
- Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is ONE!
- Genesis 2:24 “one flesh” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become ONE (H259) flesh.
- “One” H259 – ‘eḥāḏ
Meaning “First”, “One of a kind”, “One” (in a list of counting), Joined together as “One”.
In the case of the Trinity, it would be “He is three as One”
“One” H258 – ‘āḥaḏ (Root of H259)
Meaning “To Unify”
- Another word, (yachid) H3173, specifically means “only one” or “solitary,” emphasising singularity.
Yachid represents the deepest, most concealed essence of God’s infinite light, while in modern Hebrew, it can describe an only child.
An illustration of Jesus as God’s “only beloved Son” Zechariah 12:10
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son (yachid), and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
