The symbolic meaning of Thorn is “Curse”.

Genesis 3:17-18
“Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth (cause to grow) for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.

John 19:2
And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe.

Jesus took on the curse of men in order to reverse the curse.

Hebrews 6:8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

Thorns are invasive weeds.

Underwater, they are called sea weeds. The sea is symbolic of a “sea of people” who are in mayhem.

In the book of Jonah, weeds wrapped around his head in the same way that “weeds””thorns” were wrapped around Jesus’ head.

Jonah 2:5
The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head.
