- A cup can hold many things: wrath, death, iniquity, blessings, salvation, God’s fury and man’s trembling, consolation, horror and desolation, drunkenness, greed and wickedness, the Lord, demons, a new covenant, indignation, abominations and the filthiness of fornication.
- The cup of iniquity is a measuring cup. When iniquities fill the cup, God steps in and takes action. It is the cup of Passover. A cup of Healing.
- The cup of wrath, horror and desolation leaves a sick man trembling. It is a vial of foul medicine made from blood to treat the terminal disease of sin. When the medicine is refused, death ensues. It is the cup of Yom Kippur. A cup of wrath.
- The cup of drunkenness, greed, wickedness, abominations, fornication and demons is an hourglass, a timer of one’s life. When the sand has run its course, one’s time is up. This is the cup of vanity, fruitlessness, emptiness and self idolatry. It is dry as a desert. There is no liquid – only sand. This is the cup of the Seven Days of Affliction.
- The cup of consolation is a bottle of celebratory wine that numbs the pain of the past. It is the cup of Hanukah.
- The cup of the new covenant is a magnificent, priceless bottle of wine given as a gift from the groom to His bride. It is a wine of ecstasy. It is the cup of Rosh Hashanah.
- The cup of blessing is a toasting glass. It is the cup served at a banqueting table in Psalm 23. It brings honor. It is the cup of Sukkoth.
- The cup of the Lord is filled by the works of love of the saints. It is a cup presented to God by the saints, instead of God to man. It is the praise of the faithful who throw their crowns at His feet. It has no designated feast because this is an eternal feast.
- Cup, as a container for a man’s life:
- The value of a container is the value of what it contains.

- Man was made in the Image of God: A cup of God’s image.

- This particular cup held God’s own essence, the fullness of the Godhead.
- The cup (container) being passed to Jesus is the cup of agony, the cup of death. It is the cup He must accept for the pact between God and mankind to precede. This pact was made before the foundations of the heaven and the earth were laid. It was decided even before the beginning.
- The Pact made from Before the Beginning.
- Matthew 25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
- John 17:24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
- Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
- Hebrews 4:3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
- Hebrews 9:26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

- The Pact made from Before the Beginning.
- The cup of suffering was the cup given to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. It had to be a very large measuring cup to hold the sins of the world from the time of creation until the birth of the last sinner. See Matthew Chapter 26.
