The Old Testament and the New Testament
The terms began with “The Old Covenant” and “The New Covenant”
The Bible is a progressive revelation. Paul speaks of the mysteries of God once hid, now revealed.
“The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.” Augustine famously described the relationship between the Old and New Testaments this way: “The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.”
or…
“The old is the new concealed, the new is the old revealed”
‘The New Testament lies hidden in the Old, and the Old becomes manifest in the New. ‘
The Old Testament is the promise, and the New Testament is the fulfillment.
The New Testament lies hidden in the Old and the Old Testament is unveiled in the New.
“The Old is but half a whole. The New is whole: the New AND the Old.” ~BG
“Each step takes the last step with it.” ~BG
