Amos 9

• The Title: “Into Captivity Before Prosperity”
• Amos chapter 9 describes the coming attack on Jerusalem from God’s point of view.
• Amos 9 is literal, symbolic, and prophetic.
• This prophecy is repetitive: in Amos’ immediate future they are attacked and taken into captivity by the Babylonians, it happens again about 500 years later when Titus attacks and destroys the temple and takes the Jews into captivity to Rome, and according to scripture it will happen again when the Antichrist breaks his peace treaty in the middle of the seven year tribulation, attacks Jerusalem, and the Jews run for their lives. Only a small remnant is left when Jesus returns. In fact, if Jesus doesn’t return early no flesh, Jew or Gentile, will be left.

• Scriptures describing the attack on Jerusalem in the middle of the tribulation can be found in the following chapters: Isaiah 21, Joel 2, Amos 9, Matthew 24, Zechariah 12-14, Daniel 9 & 12, Jeremiah 30, Mark 13, and Revelation 12.

The History of Jerusalem

• Solomon built the first temple in Jerusalem. The work began on 966 BC and finished 959 BC, 7 years in the making.
  
• The Jews remain a kingdom until the immediate danger during Amos’ prophecy which is Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar will destroy Solomon’s temple and take the Jews captive on the 9th of Av 587 BC.
  
• 70 years after it was destroyed, the temple is rebuilt, finished 516 BC,and dubbed “the second temple”.
  
• Like the first temple, the second temple in 70 AD is also destroyed on the 9th of Av by Titus’ Roman troops when the Jews are again taken as captives.

• The Jews as a nation ceases; the land goes desolate and becomes mosquito ridden. They are called the “wandering Jews” because they are evicted from almost every nation in which they try to put down roots. They become the objects of much persecution… until 1948.
  
• On May 15, 1948 Israel once again becomes a nation fulfilling Ezekiel’s prophecy of the valley of dry bones. The Jews begin returning to their homeland as the tender leaves on the fig tree as spoken of by Jesus (Matthew 24). A nation is born in one day (Isaiah 66:8).
  
• From 1948 and to present, it is expected a third temple must be built in order for sacrifices to cease (Daniel 9:27). As of today the third temple is now ready to be put up at a moment’s notice, including the temple implements and robes for the priests.

• During the time of the First and Second Temples, a span of approximately 1,000 years, only nine Red Heifers were used in preparing the waters used to purify Jews. According to Jewish tradition, the tenth one will be used by the Messiah.
  On Thursday, September 15, 2022, 5 PM, 5 perfect, unblemished red heifers arrived in Israel from the USA. A modest ceremony was held at the unloading bay of the cargo terminal at Ben Gurion airport, where the new arrivals were greeted and speeches were made by the incredible people who have put their hearts and souls and means into making this historic/prophetic day become a reality.

• Currently, the prophecies pointing to the march to Armageddon are occurring faster and faster, like popcorn in a microwave oven. The desert land of Israel is flourishing (Isaiah 35:1), the Hebrew language is the first lost language to be brought back to life (Zephaniah 3:19), the Jews keep their independence against all odds surrounded by her enemies, the Euphrates river is a bed of mud (Revelation 16:12), fresh fish are appearing near the dead sea (Ezekiel 47:9-10), the world is in dire straights from threats of war, not with swords and shields but atomic weapons with the ability to knock the earth off her axis (Isaiah 24:20). Environmental issues threaten to destroy man’s planet with disappearing species, polluted oceans, and an expanding hole in the ozone layer resulting in strange weather patterns creating earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, fires, and famines. Threats from meteors and asteroids are tracked relentlessly. Technology opens the door to man made pandemics, an explosion of information and travel as described in Daniel 12:4 while satellites allow “every eye” to see Jesus when He returns. Computers and microchips have the ability to keep track of every human on the planet for the “mark of the beast” who becomes “the image of the beast”. Furthermore; there is a new religion which has taken over the hearts and minds of men: Ancient Aliens as the gods of this world, a “god” which your fathers have not known (Daniel 11:38).
  Matthew 24:34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
  
• We are standing in a perfect storm of prophecies. Not until the end will Jesus come, regather the remnant, and plant them so they will never again be pulled up after Jesus sets up HIS kingdom for 1,000 years of peace and prosperity.
  
• Luke 11:2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
  
  

Amos 9:¹ I saw the Lord (‘ăḏōnāy) standing by the altar, and He said:

“Strike the doorposts (Capitals of the pillars), that the thresholds may shake,
And break them on the heads ( the leaders) of them all.
I will slay the last of them with the sword.
He who flees from them shall not get away,
And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered.

• Threshold: the level or point at which you start to experience something, or at which something starts to happen, it is also part of the entrance to a building.
• Doorposts are also part of the entrance into the house of the family, the government, and the temple. They also symbolize the entrance into the soul of the family and nation while the pillars which hold up the overhead doorposts are the heads of the families and the heads of the nation. Pillars are suppose to be upright and straight. Crooked pillars compromise the safety of the structure.
• Before leaving Egypt the Hebrews were instructed to cover the doorposts with the blood of a lamb. Those houses without the blood, when the angel of death flew over, the first born males were found dead.
• We know the blood of the lamb signified the blood of Jesus which was shed on Passover for the sins of men. It is evident that the Jews have lost the protection of God due to their sins and disobedience. Therefore, the doorposts are being “brought down” and the thresholds are shaken.
• The leaders are not “delivered”.

Amos 9:² “Though they dig into hell (Or Sheol),
From there My hand shall take them;
Though they climb up to heaven,
From there I will bring them down;

Amos 9:³ And though they hide themselves on top of Carmel,
From there I will search and take them;

• Carmel’s caves are known as protective hiding places, but God assures them He can find them even there.

• Carmel means “God’s vineyard” or “God’s garden,” like the Garden of Eden, from the Hebrew words kerem (vineyard/garden) and el (God). It is a paradise like “Gan Eden”.

• “Your head crowns you like Carmel” (Song of Solomon 7:5)

• Mount Carmel, with its dramatic history, protective caves, soaring heights, and lush foliage stands as an example of majesty, but also as a stark reminder that God is sovereign as Creator of this mountain range and the only One worthy of our worship.

Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea (the sea of people),
From there I will command the serpent (the sea-serpent Satan who lives in the sea of people), and it shall bite them;

Amos 9:⁴ Though they go into captivity before their enemies,
From there I will command the sword,
And it shall slay them.
I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good.”

Amos 9:⁵ The Lord God of hosts (‘ăḏōnāy yᵊhōvâ ṣāḇā’),
He who touches the earth and it melts,
And all who dwell there mourn;
All of it shall swell like the River (The Nile),
And subside like the River of Egypt.

• Egypt is symbolic for worldliness. It literally means to be bound up/captive/grave clothes.

Amos 9:⁶ He (Yᵊhōvâ) who builds His layers (Or stairs) in the sky,
And has founded His strata in the earth;
Who calls for the waters of the sea (a sea of people),
And pours them out on the face of the earth (the surface of the earth)—
The Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) is His name.

Amos 9:⁷ “Are you not like the people of Ethiopia (Lit. sons of the Ethiopians) to Me,
O children of Israel?” says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).
“Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt,
The Philistines from Caphtor (Crete),
And the Syrians from Kir?

Amos 9:⁸ “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God (‘ăḏōnāy Yᵊhōvâ) are on the sinful kingdom,
And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;
Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”
Says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).

• The sinful kingdom is all of mankind. There is a time coming when the earth is destroyed (melted v5). The nations mean “gentiles”, the house of Jacob is the Jews. God always leaves a remnant of the Jewish nation.

Amos 9:⁹ “For surely I will command,
And will sift (shake) the house of Israel among all nations (gentile nations),
As grain is sifted in a sieve;
Yet not the smallest grain (Lit. pebble) shall fall to the ground.

• The gentile nations are used to shake the house of Israel.

Amos 9:¹⁰ All the sinners of My people (the Jews) shall die by the sword,
Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’

Israel Will Be Restored

Amos 9:¹¹ “On that day I will raise up
The tabernacle (Lit. booth; a figure of a deposed dynasty) of David, which has fallen down,
And repair its damages (Lit. wall up its breaches);
I will raise up its ruins,
And rebuild it as in the days of old;

• The tabernacle of David is the royal “house of David” as well as the “family of the Jews”, specifically, the Jewish temple.

Amos 9:¹² That they (the Jews) may possess the remnant of Edom (descendants of Esau),
And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,”
Says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) who does this thing.

• This event occurs when Jesus sets up his thousand year kingdom on earth. The Edomites will be under the authority of the Jews, these Edomites are those who served the Antichrist and were the ten kings who gave their power to the Antichrist.
  • Jews:
    • Zechariah 8:23
      “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ”
      
  • Edomites:
    • Daniel 2:34
      You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay (Red Clay/Adom/Edam/Esau), and broke them in pieces.
      • The Clay are the Edomites.
      • The Iron is the Roman Empire which oversees the global market. Currently, the Club of Rome fits this
        
  • The Believing Gentiles:
    • Daniel 2:34
      You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron (Rome) and clay (Edomites/Esau), and broke them in pieces.
      • The Roman empire has not disappeared since its inception in global events when Antiochus IV was confronted by the Roman representative Popillius Laenas on the day of Eleusis. This event is glaringly important when the king of the North in Daniel //// skips from Antiochus IV (A shadow and type of the Antichrist to come) straight to the Antichrist of end times.Morgan, M.       • The Roman Empire morphed into the Holy Roman Empire (The last Holy Roman Emperor was Otto Von Hapsburg after WW2), and then morphed into the Club of Rome which today, everybody who is anybody, belongs to this global institution. Under the auspices of the Club of Rome is the UN, the Nobel Peace Prizes, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society, and the World Health Organization. This global entity has an agenda matching much scripture involving end times. The white elephant in the room is that for its ominous power it is never mentioned in the news, except in Australia, or at least, not in the U.S. which purportedly claims to have a free press. Members include the global elite of politicians, the rich, the famous, and the powerful. In one of their articles they had a picture of Obama with the word “HOPE” beside his picture connecting Obama’s vision with their own. I would propose the Club of Rome has their finger in every nation’s election and it was said that Obama was selected, not elected.
        Signature phrases of the Club of Rome include “carbon footprint”, “redistribution of wealth”, and “it takes a village (the government) to raise a child”.
        They also propose a world divided into ten main nations/areas under a one world currency, one world united religion, and one world government to prevent national wars. A world without borders.
        One other item is such that land does not belong to citizens. This concept is backed up by the current pope who has been in Jerusalem creating “The United Faith Initiative”. Since the false prophet is a religious figure and the pope is a global religious figure, it is not a stretch to believe this pope is the false prophet.
        • The current pope: is setting up the united faith initiative in Jerusalem, substantiates the agenda of the Club of Rome, has made a dictum that there is nothing in scripture saying that people have the right to own property, and pope is the last pope is Saint Malachy’s predictions, the pope of the tribulation.
          • Malachy is known for a set of prophecies, written in 1139 AD, concerning the future line of Popes. His list started with his contemporary, Pope Celestine III and continued through the next 112 Popes. The last Pope would be called Petrus Romanus (“Peter the Roman”), whose reign would end with Judgment Day. Malachy’s vision of the future included a brief, cryptic description of each Pope.
            
• The righteous Gentiles will also be under the authority of the Jews.
  • Those gentiles saved during the tribulation, endured the tribulation, and did not take the mark of the beast.

Amos 9:¹³ “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
“When the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
And the treader of grapes him who sows seed;
The mountains shall drip with sweet wine,
And all the hills shall flow with it.

• Amos is prophesying about the Millennium when Jesus rules on earth for 1,000 years.

They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them;
They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

Amos 9:¹⁵ I will plant them in their land,
And no longer shall they be pulled up
From the land I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God (yᵊhōvâ ‘ĕlōhîm).

• Conclusions:
  • During the Millennium all God’s promises for the Jews are finally fulfilled.
    • (But look at the unnecessary suffering they brought upon themselves in order for God to get them where they needed to be).
  • The Antichrist will come from the Club of Rome as well as the False Prophet.
  • History repeats itself. When nations turn away from God, the same punishments are inflicted upon disobedience.
  • Spirits never die, they just wait for the next opportunity in the history, present, and future of mankind.
