Psalm 26

A Prayer for Divine Scrutiny and Redemption

A Psalm of David.

Psalm 26:1 Vindicate me, O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
For I have walked in my integrity.
I have also trusted in the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ);
I shall not slip.
  • When a man slips, he falls. When he falls he is hurt. When a man is hurt he is in danger of death.
Psalm 26:Examine me, O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), and prove me (test me);
Try my mind and my heart.

Psalm 26:For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes,
And I have walked in Your truth.

Psalm 26:I have not sat with idolatrous mortals,
Nor will I go in with hypocrites.
  • Hypocrite aw-lam’: To conceal oneself H5956.
    An actor: a dissembler. A backslider. An imposter. A shyster.
Psalm 26:I have hated the assembly of evildoers,
And will not sit with the wicked.
Psalm 26:I will wash my hands in innocence;
So I will go about Your altar, O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
  • To wash ones hands is to be clean both physically (literally) and spiritually (symbolically).
  • Example reference verses:
    • Mat 27:24
      When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.
    • Exodus 30:21
      “So they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die. And it shall be a statute forever to them—to him and his descendants throughout their generations

Psalm 26:That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,
And tell of all Your wondrous works.
Psalm 26:Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), I have loved the habitation of Your house,
And the place where Your glory dwells (Lit. of the tabernacle of Your glory).
Psalm 26:Do not gather (Do not take away) my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
  • The gathering of souls takes place at the harvest at end times. Scripture mentions two types of resurrections: the first resurrection and the second resurrection. The first resurrection is the resurrection of the faithful. The second resurrection is the resurrection of those who have rejected God and His plan of redemption for mankind.
  • Scripture mentions only one instance of the resurrection for those who are destined for Hell.
    However there are three instances of the first resurrection; one has passed, and two are in the future.
    • The first instance of the first resurrection was when Jesus was raised from the dead as the first fruit. Then certain tombs of saints were opened as the wave offering.
    • The second instance is the main harvest (correlating to the Feast of Trumpets) which corresponds to the rapture – the dead in Christ will be raised first.
    • The third and seemingly last resurrection will be the gleanings after Jesus returns to set up His kingdom on earth. The Feast of Booths (Tabernacles) is called the Feast of the Last Chance. This correlates with a harvest’s “gleanings”.

Psalm 26:10 In whose hands is a sinister scheme,
And whose right hand is full of bribes.
Psalm 26:11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity;
Redeem me and be merciful to me.

Psalm 26:12 My foot stands in an even place;
In the congregations I will bless the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).
  • An even place is the foundation of God; plumb square in every direction; the foundation stone of the temple.
