Numbers 10

Two Silver Trumpets

Numbers 10:1 And the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) spoke to Moses, saying:
Numbers 10:2 “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps.
Numbers 10:3 When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
Numbers 10:4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you.
  • Blow one trumpet to assemble the leaders, the heads of the divisions.
  • Blow both trumpets to assemble the entire camp.
Numbers 10:5 When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey.
  • The movement begins on the east side.
Numbers 10:6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys.
  • The south side follows
Numbers 10:7 And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance.
Numbers 10:8 The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.
  • Only the priests were to blow the sliver trumpets.
  • Anyone was allowed to blow a shofar.
Numbers 10:9 “When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God (Yᵊhōvâ ‘ĕlōhîm), and you will be saved from your enemies.
Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God (‘ĕlōhîm): I am the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) your God (‘ĕlōhîm).”
  • Three Times the Trumpets are sounded:
    • 1) Movement of the camps (the rapture) (the “last” trump of the Jewish Feast “Feast of Trumpets when the trump is sounded 100 times beginning Elus 1 and ending on Tishri 1,
    • 2) sound the alarm (the tribulation),
    • 3) And in the day of gladness (the Return).
  • Trumps in Revelation: Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,
  • Rapture:
    • Revelation 4:1 The Throne Room of Heaven – After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
  • Warnings The Tribulation:
    • Revelation 8:2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.
  • The Return of Jesus
    • Revelation 11:15 – Seventh Trumpet: The Kingdom Proclaimed – Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

Departure from Sinai

Numbers 10:11 Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony.
  • The 20th day of Iyar in the second year.
Numbers 10:12 And the children of Israel set out from the Wilderness of Sinai on their journeys; then the cloud settled down in the Wilderness of Paran.
Numbers 10:13 So they started out for the first time according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
Numbers 10:14 The standard of the camp of the children of Judah set out first according to their armies; over their army was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Numbers 10:15 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar.
Numbers 10:16 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
Numbers 10:17 Then the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set out, carrying the tabernacle.
Numbers 10:18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their armies; over their army was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Numbers 10:19 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
Numbers 10:20 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
Numbers 10:21 Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy things. (The tabernacle would be prepared for their arrival.)
Numbers 10:22 And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set out according to their armies; over their army was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
Numbers 10:23 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
Numbers 10:24 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Numbers 10:25 Then the standard of the camp of the children of Dan (the rear guard of all the camps) set out according to their armies; over their army was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Numbers 10:26 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
Numbers 10:27 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
Numbers 10:28 Thus was the order of march of the children of Israel, according to their armies, when they began their journey.
Numbers 10:29 Now Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) has promised good things to Israel.”
Numbers 10:30 And he said to him, “I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my relatives.”
Numbers 10:31 So Moses said, “Please do not leave, inasmuch as you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.
Numbers 10:32 And it shall be, if you go with us—indeed it shall be—that whatever good the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) will do to us, the same we will do to you.”
Numbers 10:33 So they departed from the mountain of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Numbers 10:34 And the cloud of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) was above them by day when they went out from the camp.
Numbers 10:35 So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:
“Rise up, O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ)! Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”
Numbers 10:36 And when it rested, he said:
“Return, O Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), To the many thousands of Israel.”
