Genesis 6

The Wickedness and Judgment of Man

Genesis 6:1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,
Genesis 6:2 that the sons of God (‘ĕlōhîm) saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
Genesis 6:3 And the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
Genesis 6:4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God (‘ĕlōhîm) came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6:5 Then the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
  • It grated on God that wickedness became great on the earth.
Genesis 6:6 And the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
Genesis 6:7 So the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).

Noah Pleases God

Genesis 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God (‘ĕlōhîm).
  • Noah was perfect in his generations,
BUT everybody knows “Nobody” is perfect.
Therefore; Noah was a perfect “Nobody”.

He was a “Nobody” when everybody else was evil.
If you feel like a “Nobody”
Maybe it’s because you are perfect
    In your generations.
  • Are you apart from…or part of…your generations?
  • When it began to rain it was Nobody’s business.
Genesis 6:10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Genesis 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God (‘ĕlōhîm), and the earth was filled with violence (Literally ḥāmās).
  • The earth was filled with Hamas.
  • As in the days of Noah, so also the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matthew 24:37)
Genesis 6:12 So God (‘ĕlōhîm) looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

The Ark Prepared

Genesis 6:13 And God (‘ĕlōhîm) said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence (Literally ḥāmās) through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
  • When terrorists show their “ends (behinds)” before the face of God, He destroys them.
Genesis 6:15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits (450 ft), its width fifty cubits (75 ft), and its height thirty cubits (45 ft).
Genesis 6:16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
Genesis 6:17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.
  • The ark used flood lights to sea through the d-ark-ness.
Genesis 6:18 But I will establish My covenant (Oath/Promise/Treaty) with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
  • Note: God is going to make a covenant with Noah! But it won’t happen until after the flood when there is a rainbow in the sky.
  • The earth at this time has no rain because there is an orb of ice encapsulating the earth to keep harmful sun rays from the planet.  Instead, there are chambers under the crust of the earth filled with water that creates a mist. It operates much like a terrarium.
  • Noah had never seen the sky, the sun, the stars, or a rainbow until he embarks from the ark. Imagine his awe.
Genesis 6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
  • With anything other than male and female, repopulating the earth would have been a problem.
Genesis 6:20 Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
  • Note: Noah did not have to find the animals; God brought the animals to him.
  • Not all animals came in pairs. The worms came in apples.
Genesis 6:21 And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.”
  • Since Noah took food for the animals, that rules out the theory that the ark was a floating laboratory keeping the DNA of animals in vials.
Genesis 6:22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God (‘ĕlōhîm) commanded him, so he did.

►Note: If you had a choice between taking the greatest ocean liner ever built during its time, the Titanic, or the Ark, which would you choose?

  • The Titanic is a man-made marvel. The Ark is made of wood and pitch.
  • The Titanic is plush and clean. The Ark is full of smelly animals.
  • The Titanic is full of Jewelry, Gold, and Silver. The Ark is full of … well, you know.

The moral of this story: Be careful of that which you choose to deliver you from destruction. The things of this world only appear to be your salvation.

Need delivered? – I Noah guy (Jesus)

► Life on the Ark was hard:

  • Noah wouldn’t allow the chickens to use fowl language.
  • Noah got milk from the cows and quackers from the geese.
  • Noah was a financier. He floated his stock while everyone else liquidated.
  • Noah wouldn’t allow card playing on the ark. He sat on the deck because he couldn’t trust the cheetahs.
  • Noah kept the bees in the ark-hives..
  • The adder snakes couldn’t go forth and multiply. They could only add.
  • Noah built the boat because he was God’s Ark-itech renowned for his workman-ship.
  • Noah’s wife used tide to wash their clothes.
  • When land appeared they disemb-ark-ed.
  • Noah entered the ark with the animals, but the termites wood knot disem-bark.
  • I listen to God when He says He will send a flood. Wood knot yew?
  • It rained 40 days and 40 d-ark nights.
  • The first animals on the boat alphabetically were the aardv-arks.
  • Noah had a proprietor-ship.
