Isaiah 29

Woe to Jerusalem

Isaiah 29:¹ “Woe to Ariel (Jerusalem, lit. Lion of God), to Ariel, the city where David dwelt!
Add year to year;
Let feasts come around.

• Hebrew meanings:
  “Ar” means city, Like AR-mageddon.
  “Har” means city on the hill, Like HAR-mageddon.
  “Ari” means Lion from H717 in the sense of violence.
  “El” means God.

Isaiah 29:² Yet I will distress Ariel;
There shall be heaviness and sorrow,
And it shall be to Me as Ariel.

• The wrath of the Lion of God.

Isaiah 29:³ I will encamp against you all around,
I will lay siege against you with a mound,
And I will raise siegeworks against you.

• Luke 21:20 – The Destruction of Jerusalem -“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.”

Isaiah 29:⁴ You shall be brought down,
You shall speak out of the ground;
Your speech shall be low, out of the dust (Lit. dried up clay, grave);
Your voice (like a mouth full of dust, trying to cry for help, the hollow echo of an empty bottle) shall be like a medium’s (a familiar spirit, a necromancer), out of the ground;
And your speech shall whisper out of the dust.

Isaiah 29:⁵ “Moreover the multitude of your foes
Shall be like fine dust (Lit. light particles),
And the multitude of the terrible ones
Like chaff (useless, blown by the wind, thrashed/tribulation) that passes away;

• Fine dust is literally “light particles”.
• Chaff is as useless as weeds, blown by the wind, thrashed, separating the wheat from the leftover chaff.
• The term “thrash” is synonymous with the word “tribulation”.
  • Matthew 3:12
    His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
• Jerusalem was a thrashing floor before it was purchased by David.
• The “chaff” is compared to goats (gentiles attacking and ruling in Jerusalem) while the “wheat” is compared to sheep around Daniel’s 70th week.
  • Matthew 25:32
    All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep (wheat) from the goats (chaff).
  • The sheep are those who have refused to take the Mark of the Beast.
  • The goats are those who have followed the logic of the Babylonian culture having the Mark of the Beast who ruled in Jerusalem.

Since the Seven Year Tribulation is Daniel’s 70th “week” (the last seven years of the Jewish story), and focuses on the Jews, then the (Gentile) Bride of Christ (with Jewish exceptions) seems to have already been taken out of the world in the rapture.

• The word for “multitude” is hāmôn H1995
  sound, murmur, rush, roar, tumult, confusion, crowd, multitude

  roar, noise, disquieted, sound, troubled, aloud, loud, clamorous, concourse, mourning, moved, raged, raging, tumult, tumultuous, uproar.
  
  “The multitude of the terrible ones” ʿārîṣ G6184 powerful or tyrannical:—mighty, oppressor, in great power, strong, terrible, violent.

Isaiah 29:⁵  (cont.) Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly.

• Ezekiel 39:11 The Burial of Gog “It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of Hamon Gog.

Isaiah 29:⁶ You will be punished by the Lord of hosts (Yᵊhōvâ ṣāḇā’)
With thunder and earthquake and great noise,
With storm and tempest
And the flame of devouring fire.

• At the Return of Jesus there will be thunder, a great earthquake and great noises:
  • Revelation 8:5 (Seal 7)
    Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
  • Revelation 11:19 (Trumpet 7)
    Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.
  • Revelation 16:18 (Bowl 7)
    And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth.
    
• The meaning of the name “Haman” from the book of Esther is “tumult”, “noise”. The coming Antichrist is a descendant of Haman, an Amalakite. “Haman” and “Hamas” have the same root words. The “noises” are related to the wars of Haman-Gog (the Battle of Gog and Magog in the valley of Haman-Gog. Ezekiel 39:11) evolving into Armageddon (Har-Magedon).

Isaiah 29:⁷ The multitude (hāmôn) of all the nations (Gentiles) who fight against Ariel (Jerusalem-Lion of God),
Even all who fight against her and her fortress,
And distress her,
Shall be as a dream of a night vision.

Isaiah 29:⁸ It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams,
And look—he eats;
But he awakes, and his soul is still empty;
Or as when a thirsty man dreams,
And look—he drinks;
But he awakes, and indeed he is faint,
And his soul still craves:
So the multitude (hāmôn) of all the nations shall be,
Who fight against Mount Zion.”

The Blindness of Disobedience

Isaiah 29:⁹ Pause and wonder!
Blind yourselves and be blind!
They are drunk, but not with wine;
They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.

• Instead of intoxicated with red wine (dam/dom), they are intoxicated with the red blood (dam/dom) of war.
• The Hebrew word for red wine and red blood is identical: spelled either “dam” or “dom”.

Isaiah 29:¹⁰ For the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.

• “The spirit of deep sleep” like the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy, Toto, and the Cowardly Lion fall asleep in the Poppy Field. Like The Two Towers, A glassy eyed Théoden is outright possessed by Saruman, and unwilling to defend Rohan from the Dunlendings and Uruk-hai pillaging the Westfold. Like While You Were Sleeping where Peter is in a coma and Peter’s family is deluded by the circumstances of his coma.
  In each case, the storyline is a delusional plot and you want to scream “Wake Up! Wake Up!” from the drugs, the satanic possession, and a comatose society.

Isaiah 29:¹¹ The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book (scroll) that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”

And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

• There is One who opens the seals to reveal all truth:
  Revelation 5:2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”

Isaiah 29:¹² Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate (Lit. does not know books), saying, “Read this, please.”

And he says, “I am not literate.”

Isaiah 29:¹³ Therefore the Lord (‘ăḏōnāy) said:

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,

Isaiah 29:¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”

Isaiah 29:¹⁵ Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”

• To “seek deep” H6009 ʿāmaq is a metaphor – to be so deep that it seems to be unsearchable.
  • To hide in the darkness
• Men hide sins in the darkness but God hides treasures of understanding away in the darkness to reveal them at the discretion of His pleasure. (Isaiah 45:3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.)
• God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all (I John 1:5). Nothing can be hid in the Light. When God appears everything is revealed. The only darkness is in the blindness of men. There is no blindness in God. Since Light reveals everything, then Light is Truth.

Isaiah 29:¹⁶ Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the Potter h3335 yāṣar be esteemed as the clay h2563 ḥōmer

Shall the Potter be (as) esteemed as the clay?
ONLY if the clay is Jesus who is both the Potter and the Clay, the Creator and the Created,
the Second Adam (not Edom),
Wherein all life is in His Red Blood.

Jesus, who Created Himself
(Colossians 1:16)
and
Jesus, who Rose Himself from the Dead.
(John 10:18)

• The Potter is He who created Adam.
• Adam, Adom and Edom are all the same Hebrew word.
• Adam was made from the “dust” of the ground where “dust” is also translated “clay”.
• Clay is red. Adam was made from red clay.
• Men are compared to pottery made from clay.
• “Dam” or “Dom” means “Red”; Red wine or Red blood in Hebrew.
• Esau was born hairy and red all over so they nick-named him “Edom”.
• Pottery is made from “red, miry clay”.
• Miry means mud or dregs, it also means by implication intoxication due to its effervescence of bubbly, intoxicating red wine or boiling, bloody wars.
• Miry clay is in contrast to a Rock (Jesus). See Topic: Jesus as a Rock and a Stone.
  • Psa 40:2
    He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
    Out of the miry clay,
    And set my feet upon a rock,
    And established my steps.
• Satan, as a reptilian sea monster, has a relationship with miry clay because he fouls the waters of people, causing them to boil.
  • Job 41:30
    His undersides are like sharp potsherds;
    He spreads pointed marks in the mire.
  • Job 41:31
    He makes the deep boil like a pot;
    He makes the sea like a pot of (bubbling) ointment.
  • Isa 57:20
    But the wicked are like the troubled sea,
    When it cannot rest,
    Whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
  • Ezekiel 32:2b “…You are like a monster in the seas, Bursting forth in your rivers, Troubling the waters with your feet, And fouling their rivers.
• The clay described in Nebuchadnezzar’s statue (Daniel 2:33) will not adhere to the iron. (The feet of iron and clay) The iron is Rome – and seems to specifically point to the current global, powerful, Club of Rome and also to the Catholic Church whose papal headquarters is located in Rome. This clay is the descendants of Edom who refuse to follow the peace treaty set up by the Club of Rome, they will not adhere, and they break the treaty.

• Isa 14:23 “I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and marshes of muddy water; I will sweep it (Babylon) with the broom of destruction,” says the LORD of hosts.

For shall the thing made say of him who made it,
“He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?

Future Recovery of Wisdom

Isaiah 29:¹⁷ Is it not yet a very little while
Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?

Isaiah 29:¹⁸ In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

Isaiah 29:¹⁹ The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ),
And the poor among men shall rejoice
In the Holy One (qāḏôš) of Israel.

Isaiah 29:²⁰ For the terrible (terrifying) one (the terrifying led by the Antichrist) is brought to nothing,
The scornful one is consumed,
And all who watch for iniquity are cut off—

Isaiah 29:²¹ Who make a man an offender by a word,
And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate,
And turn aside the just by empty words.

Isaiah 29:²² Therefore thus says the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ), who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:

“Jacob shall not now be ashamed,
Nor shall his face now grow pale;

• At the return of Jesus, every last Jew will be a believer and know their salvation.
  Zechariah 12:10 – Mourning for the Pierced One – “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

Isaiah 29:²³ But when he sees his children,
The work of My hands, in his midst,
They will hallow My name,
And hallow the Holy One (qāḏôš) of Jacob,
And fear the God (‘ĕlōhîm) of Israel.

Isaiah 29:²⁴ These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding,
And those who complained will learn doctrine.”
