Salvation is “Yeshua” in Hebrew, pronounced yesh-oo’-aw, but it Greek the word is “Jesus”.

yāšaʿ H3468 is the root word of which many other Greek and Hebrew words spring: The meaning is salvation: to be open, wide, or free. The signification of ample space is in Hebrew applied to liberty, deliverance from dangers and distresses as on the other hand narrowness of space is frequently used of distresses and dangers.

yāšaʿ H3467 is the root for yēšaʿ H3468: liberty, deliverance, prosperity -safety, salvation, saving.

yᵊšûʿâ H3444 (“Yeshua” Jesus’ Hebrew name) Passive participle of H3467. Something saved, ie (abstractly) deliverance; hence, aid, victory, prosperity:-deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare.

  • The Greek Jesus iēsous G2424 is from the Hebrew H3091 (yᵊhôšûaʿ) which in turn is made up of H3068 (aka the Tetragrammation “I AM THAT I AM”) and H3467; saved, deliverance, etc. (which is also used in H3444 Yeshua.)
  • The root of Jesus’ name is the Tetragrammaton:
    • Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

      • Man walks the Valley of Death in this life, it is the narrow road full of distresses and dangers, but at the end of the Valley is a wide, open space, a beach head of Salvation.
      • It is a picture of Moses taking the Hebrews out of Egypt. Before reaching the wide open beach head of the Red Sea of Salvation, they walked through the pent-in ‘Wadi”; a narrow maze of steep cliffs on either side.

        • The cup of salvation is the cup of death … literally, or to self, relying solely on the will of God.

        • The Good News of Salvation focuses on redemption of the slave market where Jesus delivers men from captivity.

        • The Garment of Salvation is Jesus’ blood.

        • The shield protects the front while the helmet protects from above.
      • Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
        • A powerful statement by Jonah. The statement is made by Jonah but also speaks of Jesus where metaphorically it is “Like Jonah … also Jesus”.
          • Jonah made a vow (oath) of gratitude which included obedience.
          • Likewise, Jesus made a vow to sacrifice Himself before the worlds were created, amazing that He did it with a song of thanksgiving. This is a love men cannot fathom. Like Jonah, Jesus fulfilled his vow.
            • Revelation 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
      • 2 Samuel 22:3 The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence.
      • Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
        • The word “horn” is symbolic of the power of strong leaders. Jesus is God’s anointed leader of the Jews and there is none of greater strength. (See verse 17).
      • Isaiah 62:1 Assurance of Zion’s Salvation – For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
        • The “salvation as a lamp” is the glory of God as a shining light.
        • Isaiah 60:19 God the Glory of His People – “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.
        • Revelation 21:23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.

        • 2 Corinthians 4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
      • Isaiah 12:3 Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.
        • The well of salvation is Jesus, the Living Water.
        • Living Water is running ground water that came down from heaven, runs over the rocks and is purified from pollutants (sin).
        • Living Water is a believer’s resource of Life.
        • Living Water promises a resurrected eternal life, co-heir with Jesus; purified, without disease, pain, fear, or death. An eternal life baptized in the Living Water of the love of God, a relationship knowing your personality mesmerizes Him. He is so proud He created YOU.
          • John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
          • Jeremiah 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of livingwaters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
          • Jeremiah 17:13 O Lord, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You shall be ashamed. “Those who depart from Me Shall be written in the earth, Because they have forsaken the Lord, The fountain of livingwaters.”

        • Tower: Tall notable feature, built for fortification and foresight of danger; strong, straight and upright. Also a place of safety.
        • A place of authority. Having the high ground.
