The Mighty Angel with the Little Book

Revelation 10:1 I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire.
Revelation 10:He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,
  • “Setting His feet on” means taking authority over. Sandals are symbolic for authority.
  • The sea is a sea of people. See the first beast in Revelation 13.
  • The land is the world, the earth, a global worldly institution. See the second beast in Revelation 13.
Revelation 10:and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices.
Revelation 10:Now when the seven thunders (sounded) uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.
  • The tomb was sealed and the seal was broken. When Jesus rose from the dead He was the first mystery revealed to men.
  • There is another mystery sealed up: Revelation 10:4 Whatever that mystery is, it will not be revealed until everything has been completed because it is a secret men would misuse. God still has a card up His sleeve no one knows anything about and when men see it, they will rejoice. No one will ever question God again. No one will every ask “Why”. This is why man lives in faith-to see that day.
  • Seal Up:
    • Daniel 8:26 “And the vision of the evenings and mornings Which was told is true; Therefore seal up the vision, For it refers to many days in the future.
    • Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro (speed), and knowledge shall increase (all kinds).”
    • Daniel 12:9 And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Revelation 10:The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his (right hand) hand to heaven
Revelation 10:and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer,
Revelation 10:but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
  • The sounding of the 7th trumpet coincides with the 7th seal and the 7th bowl.

John Eats the Little Book

Revelation 10:Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.”

Take Note:

  1. The book is “little”.
  2. The book is open.
  3. The Angel is holding it.
  4. A book consists of Words
  5. What does it mean when we say “You’ll have to eat your Words”.
Revelation 10:So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.”
And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”
  • The “words of the book” is the gospel and Jesus is the Word made flesh. It is the sweetest news one can possibly receive.
Revelation 10:10 Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.
  • The good news of the gospel is the sweetest words one can “eat” (take into their body and live). But not everyone accepts it and that makes it bitter, bitter, bitter.
  • Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
Revelation 10:11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings (the gentiles).”
  • The message is to make the book “edible”.
