Was Jesus the son of man also God? Some say yes, others say no.
What does scripture say? Let each person be convicted by the Word of God:
- Philippians 2:6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God (something to be held onto to be equal), 7 but made Himself of no reputation (emptied Himself of His privileges), taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
- John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (which became flesh), and the Word (which became flesh) was with God, and the Word (which became flesh) was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend (or: overcome) it.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. - Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - John 2:19 Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
John 2:21 … He was speaking of the temple of His body.
-Jesus rose Himself from the dead…along with the other persons of the Godhead: The Father and the Holy Spirit.- - Luke 18:4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins (against God)”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house.
Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” - 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
- Colossians 1:15 (AMP) He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation.
- Revelation 2:8b ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:
Psalm 113:5 ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.
These verses which point to the deity of Jesus the Christ are difficult if not impossible for men to understand, and yet, even though we, as men, do not understand them, we are called upon to trust God in faith that this is truth.
Illustrations have been created to explain this non-comprehensible truth of a Three Person Trinity as One. Such as…
- The three divisions of an egg: the yellow yoke, the white albumin, and the shell.
- An atom with three electrons circling the nucleus.
- A light spectrum: the invisible short sine waves, the visible color spectrum, and the invisible long sine waves.
- Colossians 1:15 He is the exact living image of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn of all creation.

- The cellular division of a fertilized embryo all of which share the same DNA but have different roles in developing into different body parts.
Jesus shares the same “spiritual DNA” with the Father and the Spirit.

In each illustration, we know God by the worlds which He made:- Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…
When Moses asked God at the burning bush what to call Him, His answer was “YHWH”. Each letter in the Hebrew alphabet is also associated with a word. To put the letters of His name into their associated words a sentence emerges:
“Behold!” (H)
“(my) Nail”
“Behold!” (H)
“(my) Hand” (Y)
