  • The Seals, Trumpets and Bowls occur in the last half of the tribulation. Each one describes the same events, each in its own way. The Trumpets and Bowls run identically.

Revelation 16

The Seven Bowls

Revelation 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the (seven) bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”

First Bowl: Loathsome Sores

Revelation 16:So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome (severe and malignant, lit. bad and evil) sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

Second Bowl: The Sea Turns to Blood

Revelation 16:Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

Third Bowl: The Waters Turn to Blood

Revelation 16:Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.
Revelation 16:And I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are righteous, O Lord,
The One who is and who was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.
Revelation 16:For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
For it is their just due.”
Revelation 16:And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”

Fourth Bowl: Men Are Scorched

Revelation 16:Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire.
Revelation 16:And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.

Fifth Bowl: Darkness and Pain

Revelation 16:10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.
Revelation 16:11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

Sixth Bowl: Euphrates Dried Up

Revelation 16:12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.
Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon (Satan), out of the mouth of the beast (The Antichrist), and out of the mouth of the false prophet (The False Prophet).
Revelation 16:14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Revelation 16:15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Revelation 16:16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon (Mt. Megiddo, Megiddo).

– – – – –

The seventh Seal, Trumpet, and Bowl sum up the wrath of God and the pomp of Satan. They ALL end simultaneously with thunder, lightning, earthquake, and noises indicating the Return of Jesus. A complete 777 which overcomes Satan’s 666.

Seventh Bowl: The Earth Utterly Shaken

Revelation 16:17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”

“It is Done!” – “It is Finished”!

Revelation 16:18 And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth.
  • Revelation 4:And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices indicating the presence of Jesus.
  • “VOICES, NOISE, THUNDERS AND EARTHQUAKE” is mentioned in Revelation three more times:
    Revelation 8:5, Revelation 11:19, and Revelation 16:18
    Each time noting Jesus’ return.
  • Each time has either reached the 7th seal, the 7th trumpet or the 7th bowl.
In each instance the seven year tribulation story is repeated from a different vantage point. Seals tell the story of the Tribulation first from the vantage point of God’s covenant with the Jews, then the trumpets tell their story of the tribulation as warnings, and finally a third story is told from the vantage point of the bowls signifying plagues.
  • Other reference verses describing the presence of God:
    • Esther 1 in the Greek Septuagint: The vision of Mordecai
“Behold, voices and a noise, thunders and earthquake, tumult upon the earth…”
      ~The vision of Mordecai
      • The meaning of the name Haman is “tumult”, “noise” in the book of Esther, a prophetic metaphor for the confrontation of the Antichrist with Jesus at His return.
      • Haman is not only a type of the Antichrist but will be the Antichrist’s ancestor.
    • Exodus 19:16
Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.
    • Isaiah 29: 6 NIV
“the LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.”
    • Job 37:2-3
Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, and the rumbling that comes from His mouth.
He sends it forth under the whole heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth.

    • I Samuel 2:10
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.
“He will give strength to His king, and exalt the horn (power) of His anointed.”
Revelation 16:19 Now the great city (Jerusalem) was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon (Jerusalem under the rule of the Antichrist) was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.
  • Jerusalem has three valleys: (#5)The Tyropoeon Valley, (#6) the Hinnom Valley, and the (#4) Kidron.
.4 Kidron Valley (Valley of the Shadow of Death)
During the Feast of Tabernacles at night, four enormous oil lamps burned in the Temple courtyard. Each lamp had four large bowls of oil on tall stands, with wicks made from worn-out garments of the priests. It is written that “there was not a courtyard in Jerusalem that did not reflect the light” (Mishnah, Sukkoth 5:3). The lights could be seen throughout Jerusalem; however due to the depth and angle, the Kidron Valley remained in shadow. The Kidron Valley has many burial sites, since many believe that the resurrection will begin there. For these reasons, it is said that the Kidron Valley was called the “Valley of the Shadow of Death,” as in Psalm 23:4. David likely wrote Psalm 23 when fleeing from his son, Absalom (a type of the False Messiah), across the Kidron Valley – 2 Samuel 15. Psalm 23 is likely a a prophetic reference to the Messiah, Yeshua, who was arrested at the Garden of Gethsemane, then brought to Jerusalem across the Kidron Valley. Yeshua likely prayed Psalm 23 at that moment.
5 Tyropoeon Valley
The rugged Tyropoeon Valley separates Mount Moriah from Mount Zion and was spanned by bridges, most notably Zion Bridge, connecting the royal palace on Mount Zion to the Temple. A fragment of an arch of this bridge, called “Robinson’s Arch”, was discovered by historian Edward Robinson in 1838.6 Hinnom Valley
The name of the Hinnom Valley in Hebrew is GeHinnom, “Gehenna.” Gehenna became associated with eternal torment (the lake of fire) because detestable infant sacrifices to Molech took place there.
Gehenna is translated “hell” in the KJV (Matthew 5:22, 29). Gehenna is the valley of slaughter that will be used in the future (end times) as a place of slaughter, flames, and punishment for the wicked:

“Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.” – Jeremiah 19:6.

Rev 14:19 So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses’ bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs (184 miles).

Ezekiel 38:19 ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, 20 so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ 21 I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Revelation 16:20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found (flattened).
Revelation 16:21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.
  • “Behold, voices and a noise, thunders and earthquake, tumult upon the earth…”
~The vision of Mordecai – Esther chapter 1 in the Greek Septuagint.
  • The weight of a talent is ~75 lbs.
  • Death by Hail
    • On April 14,1986 at least 92 people were killed in Gopalganj, Bangladesh by some of the heaviest hailstones ever recorded, which were the size of grapefruits and weighed around 2.25 lb each. The size for a 75lb hailstone would be one large hailstone from 31 grapefruit sized hailstones.
    • Although rare, hail can and has killed. According to Jerry Shaw in his July. 8, 2016 article for Newsmax, 1,000 English army soldiers were killed when a hail storm of near biblical proportions struck April 13, 1360, during an invasion of France. The invasion took place during the Hundred Years War and according to History.com, the day was recorded as “Black Monday,” with an eyewitness writing about the event as “a foul day, full of mist and hail, so that men died on horseback.”
    • A team of experts from National Geographic was sent to examine as many as 200 skeletons found in a lake in Roopkund, India. Dylan Thuras writes in Atlas Obscura that the bones date to about A.D. 850 and the skulls of the victims showed that they died from bone crushing blows to their heads caused by “blunt, round objects about the size of cricket balls.” The team concluded hail delivered a swift but likely terrifying death to these unfortunate souls.
    • Thuras also writes, in 1939 more than 200 people were killed during a violent hail storm in China.
  • Deaths from hail in the U.S. are very rare, but according to The Weather Channel, hail did indeed kill a pizza deliveryman in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2000 which was the last confirmed death caused directly by hail.
  • Historical Hail of Biblical Proportions:

Moral of the Story: There is a Death from Hail … and there is a Death from Hell

For the Unrepentant at Armageddon,
Hail is the First Death and Hell is the Second Death (the Lake of Fire)

  • Enoch: The seventh from Adam (extra biblical)
  • Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
