Psalm 2

Psalm 2:1 Why do the nations (Gentiles) rage (throng tumultuously),
And the people (the Jews) plot a vain (hopeless and empty) thing? (By trying to kill and keep the Son of God dead and in the grave).
Psalm 2:The kings of the earth (Gentiles: Rome) set themselves,
And the (Jewish) rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) and against His Anointed, (the Christ, Commissioned One, Heb. Messiah) saying,
Psalm 2:“Let us break Their bonds (the bonds of the Godhead) in pieces
And cast away their cords (yoke of authority) from us.”
Psalm 2:He who sits in the heavens shall laugh (in contempt);
Psalm 2: (Therefore) The Lord (‘ăḏōnāy) shall hold them in derision (chaos and utter confusion).
Psalm 2:Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure.
Psalm 2:“Yet I (God) have “set” (Lit. poured out) My King (Jesus)
On My holy hill of Zion (Lit. Upon Zion, the hill of My holiness, Jerusalem).”
Psalm 2:“I will declare (or count) the decree (or prescribed limit, boundary):
The Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) has said to Me (‘ēl),
‘You (Jesus Yeshua, the Messiah), are My Son (bēn – heir),
Today I have begotten You.
Psalm 2:9 You (the Messiah Jesus) shall break (also scatter) them (the sinners in Zion) with a rod (scepter) of iron (unyielding); You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
  • A rod of iron is ruling with absolute Justice regardless.
  • When Darkness meets Light, there is no compromise; there are no 50 shades of grey. A rod of iron is a scepter of absolute rule with unadulterated justice.
  • AN EXAMPLE OF THE INJUSTICE OF WORLDLY JUSTICE: Ted Kennedy once said Christians were the modern day Taliban. If so, Ted would find himself miserable during the reign of Jesus on earth. (
but then, there would be no women for him to leave to drown in the Chappaqua rive
  • (37 year old Ted) Kennedy left a party on Chappaquiddick at 11:15 p.m. Friday, (July 18, 1969), with (28 yr old Mary Jo) Kopechne (a respected political operative who had worked on the presidential campaign of his brother Robert Kennedy). He maintained that his intent was to immediately take Kopechne to a ferry landing and return to Edgartown, but that he accidentally made a wrong turn onto a dirt road leading to a one-lane bridge. After his car skidded off the bridge into Poucha Pond, Kennedy swam free, and maintained that he tried to rescue Kopechne from the submerged car, but that he could not. Kopechne’s death could have happened any time between about 11:30 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday, as an off-duty deputy sheriff stated he saw a car matching Kennedy’s at 12:40 a.m. Kennedy left the scene, and did not report the crash to police until after 10 a.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, a diver recovered Kopechne’s body from Kennedy’s car shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday. At a July 25, 1969, court hearing, Kennedy pled guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident, and received a two-month suspended jail sentence. A January 5, 1970, judicial inquest concluded that Kennedy and Kopechne did not intend to take the ferry, and that Kennedy intentionally turned toward the bridge, operating his vehicle negligently, if not recklessly, at too high a speed for the hazard which the bridge posed in the dark. The judge stopped short of recommending charges, and a grand jury convened on April 6, 1970, returning no indictments. On May 27, 1970, a Registry of Motor Vehicles hearing resulted in Kennedy’s driver’s license being suspended for a total of sixteen months after the crash.

  • A Rod (Scepter) of Iron enforces justice.
Psalm 2:10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings (leaders);
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Psalm 2:11 Serve [the Alef and Tav/the Alpha and Omega] the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ) with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psalm 2:12 Kiss the Son (“bar” meaning “heir”), lest He (the Lord Jesus) be angry, and you perish in the way (in the course of your actions), when His wrath is kindled but a little.
  • Kiss: Come equipped to give tender strokes to the Lord.
Blessed are all those who put their trust (faith) in Him.
  • Isaiah 55:1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money (weigh out silver like Judas) for what is not bread (life), And your wages for what does not satisfy (does not bring love, honor, life or dignity)?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David.
4 Indeed I have given him (King David and his comparison to Jesus) a witness to the people, a leader and commander for the people.
5 Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, And nations (gentiles) who do not know you shall run to you, Because of the Lord your God, And the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you (Israel).”
6 Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near (before it is too late).
7 Let the wicked (man of iniquity) forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
  • John 3:16 “Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”
  • Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
  • The faithful will be coheirs in reigning, life, rule, and power. Jesus is sharing everything He created and everything He earned to give it away free to those who love Him.
