John 19:¹⁵ But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!”

Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?”

The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

• The Jewish Leaders are desperate in their hatred of Jesus and have lowered themselves to blackmailing Pilate.
  
• NOTE: They have no king but Caesar, and they are the priests of God?  That is blasphemy, the very blasphemy of which they accused Jesus.
  • Blasphemy: Exodus 20:3, Deuteronomy 5:7, I Samuel 26:19, I Kings 9:6-7
    
    
• Furthermore, as the highest authorities of scripture, they should know scripture where it says that God has a Son.
  • Psalm 2:7-8 “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
  • Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government (kingship) will be upon His shoulder. and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
    • Jesus is not only the “Son of God” but, according to Isaiah 9:6, He is also Everlasting Father and Mighty God. He is the second person of the Godhead.

Which Caesar was “chosen” over Jesus?

Tiberius was the Roman Caesar who reigned over the Jews during the ministry of Jesus and when Jesus was crucified, ruling from 14 to 37 AD.

The character of the king whom the Jewish Leaders embraced was such that when he died in 37 AD, the Roman people celebrated, crying out, “Into the Tiber with Tiberius”. The river, which had a reputation for being the destination of criminals.

Tiberius was known for his debauchery, the kidnapping of citizens (of high and low prestige and of every age, including babies) for his private sexual slaves and performers, despite the begging cries of their families. Like Jeffrey Epstein, he had his own island where he could be reclusive to enjoy these twisted pleasures.
