Topic: Years, Days, and Times in Daniel

Home Page: Quantum Study Bible

The number of days in a year on a Jewish Calendar is 360 days a year (used throughout scripture regarding prophecies).

Some figures are literal and Some figures are symbolic.

Daniel’s Seventy Years of Captivity: LITERAL

  • Daniel’s Seventy Years : LITERAL Jewish Years
  • Daniel 9:2 Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
  • Jeremiah 25:11 And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
  • Jeremiah 29:10 For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.
    • Daniel’s Seventy Years are Literal Jewish Years
    • Daniel was a captive for seventy years in Babylon
    • The temple was left desolate for seventy years after its destruction
    • The city also had 70 years after the temple was finished
    • 586 BC -516 BC The temple destroyed and rebuilt: 70 years for the TEMPLE.
    • 605 BC-535 BC Daniel in captivity. Daniel 1:21 “Daniel continued until the first year of Cyrus”. In 535 BC Cyrus becomes king over the entire Chaldean empire, including Palestine. He decrees that the Jews may return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. The years Daniel is in captivity: 70 years for DANIEL.
    • 516 BC-446 BC From the time the temple is finished in 516 BC until Nehemiah gets permission to rebuild the city and finishes it in 446 BC is 70 years. Nehemiah journeyed to Jerusalem and aroused the people there to the necessity of repopulating the city and rebuilding its walls. Nehemiah encountered hostility from the (non-Jewish) local officials in neighboring districts, but in the space of 52 days the Jews under his direction succeeded in rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls. 70 years for the city JERUSALEM.

Daniel’s Seventy Weeks (SYMBOLIC Years)

  • Daniel’s Seventy Weeks: Days are SYMBOLIC Jewish YEARS Daniel 9:24
    • The Pattern of Consequences for Disobedience: For every day of disobedience, God gave them a year. [Ezekiel 4:6 5 For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. 6 And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year.]
    • Daniel 9:25 “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem (446 BC) until Messiah the Prince (31 AD), There shall be seven sevens (49) and (plus) sixty-two sevens; (434) for a total of 69 sevens or 483).

There are 360 days in a year in the Hebrew Calendar. 360 days times 483 (yrs) equals 173,880 DAYS.
    • Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.” 70 sevens equals 490 (yrs).

Again, 360 days a year times 490 (yrs) equals 176,400 DAYS.
    • 176,400 total days minus 173,880 days = 2,520 unfulfilled days equals 7 yrs = The Tribulation
    • Conclusion:
    • Jesus was cut off 173,880 days from Nehemiah’s command to rebuild the city and the walls.
    • The world is waiting for the final seven years.

High light …

  • The command went out to restore Jerusalem’s streets and walls 483 Jewish YEARS or 173,880 days before the arrival of the Jewish Prince (Jesus) on His triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
    • At the end of the seven sevens and sixty-two sevens (69 sevens) [ie: after the sixty-two sevens] Messiah shall be cut off (suffer the death penalty), but not for Himself;
    • The fulfillment of 69 of Daniel’s 70 sevens was then completed.
    • Then, On Saturday, April 21, 31 AD (Nisan 10th) Jesus made His triumphal entry. Click here to see: Timeline BC Scroll to 31 AD
[Note: both fell on a Sabbath]

Below: Conversion Chart from Hebrew to Roman dates:

    • There is still another “week” waiting in the future, it has been put on hold until the time of the gentiles (the Age of Grace) comes to an end. That week is the remaining 7 years; added to the 483 years it completes the 490 years. It will add up to 176,400 days total.
    • The remaining 7 years are the Seven Year Tribulation; the entire book of Revelation when God once again focuses on the Jewish nation. It is called “Daniel’s 70th week” ending at Armageddon with the return of Jesus. It also has other names: See Names of the Seven Year Tribulation

Times

  • Daniel’s uses the word “Time” in the place of “Year”; One “Time” equals one “Year” in Daniel chapter 4.
    • The word “time” in prophetic SYMBOLISM means “years”:
      • Revelation 12:14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. (3-1/2 years)
      • Revelation 12:6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. (3-1/2 years on the Jewish calendar)
        • 360 days x 7 years = 2,520 days The entire tribulation
        • 360 days x 3.5 years = 1,260 days Half of the tribulation
  • However; Daniel’s use of the word “time” in Daniel chapter 9 is LITERAL in its use of its general environment: danger.

1,335 Days in Daniel 12:12

  • Daniel 12:11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
  • From seemingly nowhere half the days of the tribulation are attached to a certain Jewish feast; Hanukah.
    • The key to this understanding is such that Hanukah is ALWAYS 75 days after The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
    • 1,260 days is half the tribulation. Specifically and prophetically, the last half of the tribulation.
    • Adding 75 days to 1,260 days is 1,335 days.

The implications are that All Jewish Autumn Feasts symbolize end time events!
See chart below:

This makes perfect sense since All Jewish Spring Feasts were fulfilled on there exact days by Jesus’ crucifixion (Passover), resurrection (First Fruits), opening of certain tombs of the saints (Wave Offering), and the giving of tongues (Pentecost).

All the Autumn Jewish Feasts are yet unfulfilled: The Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement, and Booths.

An interesting “oddity” (or should I say “clue”) appears between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. There are seven days end to end called “the Seven Days of Affliction”. I find this pattern fascinating: If the Feast of Trumpets is the Rapture and the Day of Atonement is Jesus’ return, then right in the middle is “Daniel’s 70th Week”, literal seven days symbolizing seven years of tribulation.

This pattern suggests a “Pre-Trib” rapture, followed by the seven year tribulation, followed by Jesus’ immediate return. A total of ten days. These days are called the “High Holy Days”, or the “Days of Awe”.

From the middle of the seven year tribulation when the Antichrist declares that he is “god” until the return of Jesus is 1,260 days

The feast of “Hanukah” was added when the Jewish temple was cleansed and rededicated after the abomination committed by Antiochus IV. Antiochus IV defiled the temple just like the Antichrist is prophesied to defile the temple.
(The temple was cleansed, just like the temple after Jesus’ return will be cleansed.)

Which temple will be cleansed? The temple (bodies) of the righteous? The temple in the New Jerusalem? or both?

Hanukah is a man-made ordained feast celebrating the cleansing of evil. The chart below shows how it looks when the seven days of affliction becomes the seven year tribulation.
