WHO’S WHO
- Seven headed Dragon/Beast: Satan, an invisible spiritual entity whose purpose is to replace God with himself. The seven heads are seven gentile kingdoms who will have ruled over the Jews under the influence of Satan. Five have fallen, one is, and one is yet to come (the Antichrist during the seven year tribulation). At the present, the Holy Roman Empire is still the present kingdom with the Pope as its titular head.
- – Revelation 12:3, Revelation 13:1, Revelation 17:3, Revelation 17:7, Revelation 17:9.

- The Antichrist Beast: The last head (kingdom) on Satan the dragon’s head, the one yet to come. Like Satan he is also called “the Beast”. He is a visible political figure indwelt by Satan.
- Revelation 13:3
- Revelation 13:3
- The False Prophet Beast: A visible religious figure who works in tandem with the Antichrist Beast who looks like a lamb but speaks with the words of the dragon. The False Prophet is the Beast from the earth, idolatry. The global religious figure would fit as the pope of the Holy Roman Empire.
These three, like the Trinity, act as “one” in an unholy trinity; Satan the beast, Antichrist the beast, and the False Prophet the beast. They are one in their sinister character, mind, and purpose as a mimic of the Godhead.
WHY DOES THE DRAGON HAVE SEVEN HEADS?
- The Seven Heads are seven gentile kingdoms who have (Past), Does (Present) and will (Future) rule over the Jews under the influence of Satan.
- The Seven Crowns symbolize rulers, one crown on each kingdom (not necessarily one ruler per kingdom).
WHAT ABOUT THE TEN HORNS?
- All ten horns on the beast are on the last head of the dragon during the kingdom of the Antichrist.
- These ten horns are ten kings who give their power to the Antichrist.
- The Antichrist is the singular head over the last kingdom on earth as well as he who wears the singular crown of that kingdom.
- The ten kings who give their power to the Antichrist plus the Antichrist total eleven crowns. The Antichrist replaces three kings with himself leaving seven.
HOW DO WE KNOW THE TRIBULATION WILL LAST SEVEN YEARS?
- BY COMPARISONS:
- JACOB’S TROUBLES
- – The tribulation is called the time of Jacob’s Troubles, a famine lasting for seven years. Gen 31
- THE PEACE TREATY
- – The peace treaty the Antichrist signs with Israel is for seven years. This peace treaty will be the event triggering the beginning of the tribulation and it will be broken after three and a half years.
Daniel 9:27
- – The peace treaty the Antichrist signs with Israel is for seven years. This peace treaty will be the event triggering the beginning of the tribulation and it will be broken after three and a half years.
- DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS
- – God gave Daniel a timeline specifying “from the rebuilding of the city walls to the anointing of the Messiah (the Second Coming) would be 70 weeks.” Those 70 weeks are analogous to 490 years. The last “week”, the 70th week of tribulation, consists of the last 7 of those 490 years.
Daniel 9
- – God gave Daniel a timeline specifying “from the rebuilding of the city walls to the anointing of the Messiah (the Second Coming) would be 70 weeks.” Those 70 weeks are analogous to 490 years. The last “week”, the 70th week of tribulation, consists of the last 7 of those 490 years.
- LEAH’S WEDDING “WEEK”
- – Leah’s wedding “week” of days is equivalent to Daniel’s 70th “week” of years. See Jacob’s two wives in which a wedding feast lasts a “week”. Rachel was in affliction for seven days, symbolizing the Jews while Leah was in heaven for seven days symbolizing the Bride of Christ. Laban told Jacob to finish Leah’s wedding “week” and then Jacob could have Rachel also. See Topic: Jacob’s two wives.
Genesis 29:7
- – Leah’s wedding “week” of days is equivalent to Daniel’s 70th “week” of years. See Jacob’s two wives in which a wedding feast lasts a “week”. Rachel was in affliction for seven days, symbolizing the Jews while Leah was in heaven for seven days symbolizing the Bride of Christ. Laban told Jacob to finish Leah’s wedding “week” and then Jacob could have Rachel also. See Topic: Jacob’s two wives.
- GOG AND MAGOG
- – After the first war of God and Magog, their armaments are burned for seven years (during the tribulation).
Ezekiel 39:9
- – After the first war of God and Magog, their armaments are burned for seven years (during the tribulation).
- JACOB’S TROUBLES
- BY VERSES: PART ONE –
- FIRST HALF PLUS SECOND HALF OF THE TRIBULATION EQUALS SEVEN YEARS: BY DAYS
- Revelation 11:3 counts the number of days for the first half of the tribulation and Revelation 12:6 counts the days for the second half of the tribulation. These days add up to 3-1/2 years each by the Hebrew calendar for a total of 7 years:
- Rev 11:3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” (in the middle of the tribulation they are killed)
- Revelation 12:6 (In the middle of the tribulation the Antichrist breaks the peace treaty) Then the woman (Israeli Jews) fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
1,260 days plus 1,260 days equals 2,520 days divided by 360 days/year (Hebrew calendar) = 7 years
- Revelation 11:3 counts the number of days for the first half of the tribulation and Revelation 12:6 counts the days for the second half of the tribulation. These days add up to 3-1/2 years each by the Hebrew calendar for a total of 7 years:
- FIRST HALF PLUS SECOND HALF OF THE TRIBULATION EQUALS SEVEN YEARS: BY DAYS
- BY VERSES: PART TWO –
- SECOND HALF OF THE TRIBULATION ONLY: BY MONTHS
- Two other references are given in Revelation for the second half of the tribulation when the Antichrist breaks his peace treaty. Scripture gives the number of months: 42 months which equal 3-1/2 years.
- Revelation 11:2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty two months.
- Revelation 13:5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
- Two other references are given in Revelation for the second half of the tribulation when the Antichrist breaks his peace treaty. Scripture gives the number of months: 42 months which equal 3-1/2 years.
- SECOND HALF OF THE TRIBULATION ONLY: BY MONTHS
- BY VERSES: PART THREE –
- “BY TIMES: Times” is 2 years, “Time” is 1 year, “Half a Time” is 1/2 year.
Comparing Daniel and Revelation: Daniel 9:27 says that the beast (the Antichrist) will make a covenant for seven years, but in the middle of this week (3-1/2 years into the tribulation), he will break the covenant, putting a stop to sacrifice. Revelation 13 explains the beast will place an image of himself in the temple and require the world to worship him. Revelation 13.5 says this will continue for 42 months, which is 3-1/2 years. Since Daniel 9:27 says that this will happen in the the middle of the week, and Revelation 14.5 says that beast will do this for a period of 42 months, it is easy to see that the total length of time is 84 months or seven years.
Revelation uses the term “times, time and half a time” to refer to “two years, one year, and a half a year,” which also equals 3-1/2 years. All these events take place during the second half of the tribulation. - The Antichrist is indwelt by Satan when Satan is thrown out of heaven in the middle of the tribulation.
- Daniel 7:25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time (one year) and times (two years) and half a time (1/2 year).
- Daniel 12:7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.
- Daniel 7:25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time (one year) and times (two years) and half a time (1/2 year).
- “BY TIMES: Times” is 2 years, “Time” is 1 year, “Half a Time” is 1/2 year.
NAMES OF THE TRIBULATION
- See Topic: Names of the Seven Year Tribulation with corresponding verses
- Chart: Names of The Seven Year Tribulation
Tribulation means “thrashing”; It as though God is taking the Jews and an unbelieving mankind to the woodshed and giving them a thrashing. Thrashing is also known as “threshing”; the process of separating useful grains of wheat from their useless stalks. During the time of this spiritual harvest there will be a separation of useless weeds and useful wheat.
When King David purchased the land of Jerusalem, it was a “threshing floor” for wheat.
The Wheat Gets Beat and the Chaff Gets Trashed Matthew 3:12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” |
Threshing is associated with the harvest. God has His own “harvest” of souls. The main harvest occurred with the rapture. The “wheat that gets beat” are those who were “left behind” but have become believers because of the affliction of the tribulation while the chaff are those who continue in their rebellion against God.
The Tribulation is a time of alarm, affliction, adversity and angst, bewilderment, boiling, beheading, and butchery, devastation, destruction, doom and desperation, turmoil, trouble, toil, and terror.
When wheat gets beat it is “separated”. To be separated in Hebrew means to “Make Holy”.
- One example using the word holy: Exodus 20:8-9 Remember (to separate) the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
Holy (qāḏaš) Strong’s h6942: to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed, be holy, be sanctified, be separate.
