Hosea 6

Hosea 6:¹ Come, and let us return to the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ);

For He has torn (the tribulation), but He will heal us (at His return);
He has stricken (the tribulation), but He will bind (Bandage) us up (at His return).

Hosea 6:² After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.

• Each of following events happened on the same day (Passovers) in the same month and on the same day of the week. Only years separate them.

• Jesus was slaughtered as the Passover Lamb on Passover.
  On the third day He rose from the grave.
• Isaac was offered as a sacrifice but God substituted a Ram.
  It took them three days to return to their home.
• The Passover lamb was killed in Egypt
  They went three days journey into the wilderness.
  
• “Us” is the Jews and the land of Israel
  • According to prophecies, the Jews will be the priests for the world when Jesus reigns during the Millennium. Zechariah 8:23

Hosea 6:³ Let us know,
Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord (Yᵊhōvâ).
His going forth is established as the morning;

He will come to us like the rain,
Like the latter and former rain to the earth.

Impenitence of Israel and Judah

Hosea 6:⁴ “O Ephraim, what shall I do to you?
O Judah, what shall I do to you?
For your faithfulness is like a morning cloud,
And like the early dew it goes away.

Hosea 6:⁵ Therefore I have hewn (cut) them by the prophets,
I have slain them by the words of My mouth;
And your judgments are like light that goes forth.

Hosea 6:⁶ For I desire mercy (Or faithfulness or loyalty) and not sacrifice,
And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Hosea 6:⁷ “But like men (Adam/man) they transgressed the covenant;
There they dealt treacherously with Me.

• The covenant of God with man is the Passover.
• The first Passover was made before man was created:
  • Revelation 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
  • 1 Peter 1:20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
  • Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
• The second Passover was made when Abraham offered to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Moriah even before the Jews were brought out of Egypt on the exact same day: Passover.
• The third Passover was fulfilled when Jesus was offered by the Father on the same days as when Isaac was offered and when the Jews left Egypt.
• They sinned against God’s covenant (treaty, pact, agreement, oath). They worshiped gods and became a harlot.

Hosea 6:⁸ Gilead is a city of evildoers and defiled (Lit. foot-tracked) with blood.

Hosea 6:⁹ As bands of robbers lie in wait for a man,
So the company of priests murder on the way to Shechem;
Surely they commit lewdness.

Hosea 6:¹⁰ I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel:
There is the harlotry (Spiritual adultery) of Ephraim;
Israel is defiled.

Hosea 6:¹¹ Also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed for you,
When I return the captives of My people.
